Caveat, I'm 6ft tall, but I can gain/lose a stone in either direction (I.e. 2 stone in total) and my own family don't notice.

3 pounds? Nope. I regularly vary that in one day.

Usernamegone · 16/10/2016 21:04

I'm short and 3/4 pounds definitely shows.

Normally when I start my period I easily go up 4 pounds (all on my stomach) in a day

Do I care - no it's just my body doing its thing Smile

elodie2000 · 16/10/2016 21:06

3lb? You're kidding.

daisychain01 · 16/10/2016 21:11

This takes self- obsession to a whole new level. Come on, OP, give your head a wobble. Add insult to injury, I bet you're gorgeous. Grin

loveyogalovelife · 16/10/2016 21:14

I can see 3lbs on me - 7lbs and I go up or down a dress size...

cardibach · 16/10/2016 21:18

Well lucky you, loveyoga. I have to lose at least 2 stone to change dress size. How come you get away with 7lbs?

Alfiedoggy · 16/10/2016 21:19

I wish I was !!! But you're right....it is quite self obsessed Blush

I don't know if anybody would notice, but I would notice if I gained 3lb as my trousers would be a touch tighter.

roasted · 16/10/2016 21:21

My mother can see +/- 3lb. No one else can, not even me.

jellycat1 · 16/10/2016 21:23

No yanbu - I can feel it in my clothes for sure - especially jeans where I get a muffin top!

loveyogalovelife · 16/10/2016 21:25

Depends how much extra weight you're carrying at the start I guess?i'm 5'8" and generally size 8-10 but have headed up to a 12 after an indulgent Christmas or whatever.

7lbs is a huge difference on me because it all goes in one place on my hips and thighs...

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 16/10/2016 21:50

Here's an idea.

Take a pic of yourself naked at 9st, and a pic at 9st3. See if you can tell the difference.

(First make sure your phone doesn't automatically sync to google drive/facebook/etc. Grin )

MrsMook · 16/10/2016 21:53

I can notice. I'm 5ft 2, size 8-10 and a combination of having lunch and brewing for a good trip to the loo can easily trigger "Miss are you pregnant?" I've got a slight muscle separation in my abs and little bust, so there's no hiding space if my waist bloats by an inch or two.

I know I'm a healthy weight, and have a decent lifestyle, so it's no great concern, but my threshold on feeling comfortable and exceeding that comfort zone is quite tight. 3lb has recently made a difference in feeling my bottom jogging along behind when I run, and only a little more than that changes my face shape surprisingly easily. There's only half a stone between my optimum comfort weight and feeling uncomfortable despite still being healthy BMI. Few people would notice the subtlety, but the positive side is that I mantain a decent lifestyle and keep my weight stable in a small range.

StormStrike · 16/10/2016 22:27

Take a pic of yourself naked at 9st

Mmm, I might need a wee bit of photoshopping 😂

TathitiPete · 16/10/2016 22:55

Not a friggin hope. I'd probably notice three stone alright. 3 pounds?? Not I, is all I can say.

talksensetome · 17/10/2016 11:30

I think when I can notice it, it is hormonal/water retention and all goes on my stomach. I can't see any difference on my bum/legs/bust but when I get up in the morning I have a perfectly flat stomach. when I go to bed at night I have a fat round belly so 3lb is easy to spot.

OP I actually think you can notice it.

My sister was over this weekend and we got tarted up. I felt hideous as things felt a smudge too tight. Weighed myself (I do it every few days and same time, before breakfast, naked, I can assure people if you do this there is none of this ambiguous "fluctuation" to lean on) and I've gained two pounds and I can feel it.

For me it's very healthy to weigh regularly like this. I can't understand people who never weigh themselves and then get a big shock they have gained 12lbs or whatever. I can't understand not feeling clothing getting tighter.

I'm 5 10 so it's not a case of being tiny so I notice it. I definitely notice a few lbs up and equally I notice the comfort in a few lbs down. I'm losing baby weight, 7lbs off pre pregnancy weight and am aware of every one of those lbs!

sleepwhenidie · 17/10/2016 12:12

OP can I suggest that if your date does notice then you should most definitely run like the wind away from him? Shock

Ifeelyourpain2 · 17/10/2016 12:32

I'm 5'7 and find 3lb is noticeable for me, even in how my clothes fit! Italy goes on my stomach I find. I do have body image issues though and feel podgy at 9st4, I am at least aware of it though.

TheFuckitBuckit · 17/10/2016 12:48

On someone else? No wouldn't notice it.

On myself then yes definitely, am small built and only 5ft tall. With 3lb clothes start to become slightly snug and feel bloated as it goes to my stomach first.

With 7lb up, my legs and arms start looking chunky, my boobs no longer fit my bra properly. I can just about get the jeans done up but they cut me in half and I feel like circulation is restricted in my legs due to said jeans !!!
so any more than that would be up a dress size.

19lottie82 · 18/10/2016 13:30

Your weight will fluctuate by more than 3lbs at different times of the day, so I don't believe anyone can notice a 3lb weight loss, sorry.

UterusUterusGhali · 18/10/2016 13:54

I once weighed myself at the beginning and end of a night shift.

I'd lost a kilo.

Highlight of my working life tbh.

Thefitfatty · 18/10/2016 13:59

I think it's heavily dependent on what the weight gain is from. If it's 3lbs of fat it's unlikely you'll notice it. However, if the 3lbs is part of overall bloating, you will notice a difference in your appearance. On the plus side 3lbs of water retention should disappear quickly, on the other hand it's the most "noticeable" mostly because the retention is making you feel uncomfortable.

AppleJac · 18/10/2016 14:05

I have lost 1 stone 4 pound and not one person has noticed and my clothes still fit the same so i would say you cannot see a 3lb gain.

You would be able to feel it within yourself but not noticeable on the outside
