To do a straw poll on whether you're happy with where Brexit is heading?

This isn't about the whys and wherefores of how we got here but, since no one I speak to IRL is happy with the path Brexit is leading us down and I've just seen a poll in the Metro strongly in favour of abandoning Brexit it got me wondering how wide spread it is.

This isn't supposed to be an argument thread or even how you voted, just Are you happy heading towards a hard Brexit

Yes or No

Remoaner is an insult. And a very nasty one at that. But these Brexiters care not who they insult, that much is obvious. Thankfully, it will be the courts who decide.

TheSultanofPingu · 17/10/2016 14:19

No

And I am a remoaner. I love a good moan about brexit, especially the lack of any sort of plan!

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 14:20

I'm fine with remoaners as long as we can keep brexshiteers Wink

twofingerstoGideon · 17/10/2016 14:26

Let's just remind ourselves of this.

Underparmummy · 17/10/2016 14:47

I don't mind being called a remoaner (I don't even mind being called a 'Nazi' as per a separate thread). Leaving the EU is wrong, literally nothing will silence me on that (poor dh).

Bearbehind · 17/10/2016 14:48

Incredible standard of discussion there fishwife Hmm

Genius isn't it bear? I feel so rebuked and insulted. I will DEFINITELY get over it after that shaft of enlightenment.

GinIsIn · 17/10/2016 14:50

thefishwife That's the plan?!

"You lost get over it", and "the countries have to agree the thing" is the brexit plan?!

Well thank GOD you were here to enlighten us!!

EVERYONE!! OVER HERE! Fishwife has the brexit plan - the countries have to agree the thing. So it's all going to be fine now. Hmm

Of course, it's illuminating to read the Minister for Brexit - David Davis himself (may his Name be Praised wherever so he goeth) did observe :

A democracy which cannot change it's mind is not a democracy

So - as my Mum would have said - put that in your pipe and smoke it ....

Just because people were on the 'losing side' that does not mean they need to shut up. For as long as the UK continues to call itself a democracy people can go on, (and on, and on) about Brexit for as long as the whole sorry shitstorm continues to unravel. And beyond.

Se, get over it.

TheSultanofPingu · 17/10/2016 14:55

Grin@ the countries have to agree the thing.

Oh my days.....

shovetheholly · 17/10/2016 15:00

What was it that Winston Churchill said? Something about 'The best argument against democracy'?? Grin

BreakWindandFire · 17/10/2016 15:05

No. But I'm a Remainer. Could live with a soft Brexit, but it's looking increasingly like a hard Brexit. In 2020 we'll be living in ditches and Marmite will be our currency.

Unless Trump becomes President then we'll all be anihilated in a nuclear war started after someone was rude to him on Twitter. Possibly even before Article 50 is triggered.

That's where the remain camp went massively wrong, they concentrated on the economics & people didn't give a toss about that - they wanted control of their borders.

Completely agree with this

MitzyLeFrouf · 17/10/2016 15:13

Yep. Armageddon will come a knocking when someone disses Donald's hair.

Witchend · 17/10/2016 15:19

No.
Dh's firm has just announced 20% redundancies. They've never had any redundancies in their long history before. Before Brexit they were doing fine. They did a lot of oversea work and no one will invest in Uk now and those Uk companies are drawing their belts in and not investing either.
And it's going to get worse.

Brexit · 17/10/2016 15:32

Hell Yes

Seacatses · 17/10/2016 15:32

I just don't get why people would want control of their borders, when it means job losses, austerity, rising food prices etc. Why keep foreigners out, at such a high cost to the economy? Is it really so terrible to mix with other cultures? What are people so afraid of? And don't start with 'I can't get an appointment with my doctor because of the immigrants'. It has been shown time and time again that this has sod all to do with immigrants, and that in fact immigration is GOOD for the economy. Though people do like to dismiss these arguments, even when presented with the facts and figures, as it doesn't suit their xenophobic agenda. Are so many people really that intolerant? It's so sad.

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 15:37

all the countries have the agree the thing

Take back control of the thing. You don't want the thing out there on its own, being controlled by Europeans, which we most certainly aren't and never had a say in at all despite always having a say and often a veto.

Or do we want to get rid of the thing then close the borders so the thing can't get back? What if the thing has been here so long it can claim citizenship?

The thing is important people!!!

Guys I found a copy of the whole Brexit plan. Thanks, fishwife! I feel a lot better now.
