To do a straw poll on whether you're happy with where Brexit is heading?

Bearbehind · 16/10/2016 16:57

This isn't about the whys and wherefores of how we got here but, since no one I speak to IRL is happy with the path Brexit is leading us down and I've just seen a poll in the Metro strongly in favour of abandoning Brexit it got me wondering how wide spread it is.

This isn't supposed to be an argument thread or even how you voted, just Are you happy heading towards a hard Brexit

Yes or No

sea I always find it funny when there's a suggestion we need to control our borders. Um we do control our borders. Never mind half our immigration comes from non eu countries. And we can't 'control' our borders with the CTA still in place with ROI. And and and...

Lilabee · 17/10/2016 15:46

Dear Prime Minister May,

I can't help but notice that your government are currently wondering whether to implement a 'hard brexit' or 'soft brexit'.

I don't care one way or another as long as you remember that the countries have to agree the thing

Your faithfully,
Lila Bee

Fuck off

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 15:49

Witty response, well done.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2016 15:50

I'd bloody love to be able to 'get over it'. Hmm

Oh well. Look on the bright side of what the crashed pound plus tariffs (22% if WTO I think?) will do to the cost of imported food, and no cheap labour to process home-grown. Most of us eat too much anyway. We'll be able to manage with fewer NHS staff if all our belts are literally tightened. Is that the cunning plan?

GinIsIn · 17/10/2016 15:51

Dear Prime Minister May,

I do hope your lack of correspondence skills and limited vocabulary are not an indication of how you plan to negotiate Brexit. How will the countries agree the thing if you've told them to fuck off? Because all the countries have to agree the thing.

Yours,
Fenella Maxwell

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2016 15:54

Dear Fenella,

You misunderstand. 'Fuck off' is the thing which the remaining countries of the EU will all agree to in relation to the UK.

Yours etc
T May.

Seacatses · 17/10/2016 16:01

The thing is, we can poke fun all we want but the amazing reality is that this decision, affecting millions of people, was given to us, the common people, the majority of whom know zilch about the implications, whom just don't have the required knowledge. And all of it based on lies too.

It's like someone pointing to a patient on the operating table, and, following a short powerpoint presentation written by a cat, asks Joe Bloggs where to cut. It makes no sense whatsoever. No wonder the world thinks we're a laughing stock (granted America is winning atm but we're a close second).

GinIsIn · 17/10/2016 16:02

Dear Prime Minister May,

So have we "taken back control" already, or do we have to wait for them all to tell us to fuck off first? And does that happen before or after the countries agree the thing? Just want to check - I'd hate to be accused of moaning or being a traitor by not understanding The Thing.

Yours,
Fenella

"You misunderstand. 'Fuck off' is the thing which the remaining countries of the EU will all agree to in relation to the UK." Grin Grin

Elendon · 17/10/2016 16:14

Dear Fenella,

As you are a member of mumsnet you must have been on the relationships board. All we are doing at the moment is getting our 'ducks in a row', and that row is rather big. It's going to be a messy divorce, but we need all of you to get behind us and do the British thing. Chin up. And wish me all the best. I will need it

Yours truly
The Right Honourable T May.

TheNaze73 · 17/10/2016 16:20

No, didn't vote for it & still waiting for the £350m to be added to the NHS budget.

Still can't believe Brexiters are moaning that they voted to leave & are now banging on about currency exchange etc.

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 16:22

Please done tell me there's a British thing and a European thing. This will never work all the countries have to agree the thing Shock

You look surprised that surferjet has "finally" admitted to her xenophobia? I am so anguished that such a large proportion of England population has voted out and such a large number among them outing themselves as xenophobia.its hard to trust in real life.its one more thing achieved by Farage/Gove/BloJo and their mentors:divide and rule. I am angry how successful they were in achieving this.

ToujeoQueen · 17/10/2016 16:40

Fuck no

ToxicLadybird · 17/10/2016 16:44

No.

Where we're heading terrifies me.

Thefishewife · 17/10/2016 16:53

This has now become how can we have eu through the back door.

LurkingHusband · 17/10/2016 17:00

This has now become how can we have eu through the back door.

Really ? How so ?

Pointing out that - Brexit or not - the UK is still going to have to abide by EU treaties as a very minimum price of doing business into Europe is simply stating a fact. Moreover a fact that was clearly articulated before 23rd June.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's some sort of lack of comprehension about how international treaties work amongst a proportion of voters ?

birdybirdywoofwoof · 17/10/2016 17:03

Just beginning to wonder, Lurking?

AmysTiara · 17/10/2016 18:00

No but I voted Remain. Am also northern btw

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 18:04

"This has now become how can we have eu through the back door."

Not so, the leaving the single market question wasn't asked on the ballot and numerous options were given to those voting leave regarding Norway or Swiss models. Or the "have our cake and eat it" model by BoJo.

Hard Brexit has no mandate, but you aren't articulate enough even to try to counter that.

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 18:12

Valentine: I am surprised that Surfer has admitted her xenophobia previously she's claimed to have done significant research but this has been shown up on many occasions.

Its good to know though.
