To do a straw poll on whether you're happy with where Brexit is heading?

Bearbehind · 16/10/2016 16:57

This isn't about the whys and wherefores of how we got here but, since no one I speak to IRL is happy with the path Brexit is leading us down and I've just seen a poll in the Metro strongly in favour of abandoning Brexit it got me wondering how wide spread it is.

This isn't supposed to be an argument thread or even how you voted, just Are you happy heading towards a hard Brexit

Yes or No

Yet another remoner thead

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 13:19

Yet another facetious reply from a vacuous brexshiteer.

GinIsIn · 17/10/2016 13:21

thefishwife as you clearly must know what's going on if you think it's going well, please do provide us remoaners with the plan - we'd love to hear it! Hmm

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 13:32

surfer there's a whole world of difference between not wanting brexit and being pro eu.

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 13:33

There's a bigger difference yet with being happy with the current state of affairs and being pro eu

Bearbehind · 17/10/2016 13:36

Beat me to it magi

the trouble with surfer and many like her is they see immigration as the be all and end all and have absolutely no concept of the price we will have to pay for so called 'control' over it.

I'd be willing to bet there are quite a few who voted leave but have answered No on here.

It wasn't just about immigration.

NO
If it goes ahead, I am screwed in every possible way.so definitely no.Sad

Valentine2 · 17/10/2016 13:39

smallfox
Grin at Brexshiteer.every single discussion with every leave voter so far in RL ends with them outing themselves as immigration-hating xenophobes.thanks for giving me this word

RockinHippy · 17/10/2016 13:39

No way!

Lilabee · 17/10/2016 13:43

Would it be reasonable to ask MN to delete posts referring to people who are critical of Brexit as 'Remoaners'? I consider the term 'Remoaners' not only silly but a personal attack and a way to lazily undermine posters by throwing around derogative terms instead of thought out arguments.

In the context of media and government openly using the term 'Remoaner' to discredit and silence people who are not toeing the Brexit line labelling them 'unpatriotic' it is offensive and should not be acceptable on MN.

"Yet another remoner thead"
What's a remoner thead?

surferjet · 17/10/2016 13:44

Yes, immigration was the main reason people voted to leave. That's well known. Interested to know what price we'll have to pay for this? You seem to know exactly what's going to happen & have an answer for everything, I'm just wondering what you're doing on MN? shouldn't you be a government advisor or something? or maybe even god?

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 13:50

Oh hang on, all those debates and campaigners pre referendum assuring the people this wasn't about immigration. And now it's being fully admitted to that it is all about that. And to hell with the consequences.

Anyone else wish we'd just had a referendum on whether foreigners were jolly nice chaps or scum instead?

Valentine2 · 17/10/2016 13:59

surferjet
Government knows exactly what it's doing.keep living under your rock.they needed you to do their dirty laundry.they have used you and got what they wanted.now they will discard you.get ready for that.

surferjet · 17/10/2016 13:59

That's where the remain camp went massively wrong, they concentrated on the economics & people didn't give a toss about that - they wanted control of their borders.

MitzyLeFrouf · 17/10/2016 14:00

Very soon people will certainly start giving a toss about the economics............

surferjet · 17/10/2016 14:01

Government knows exactly what it's doing

That's a first on these threads.

Underparmummy · 17/10/2016 14:02

No! All atrociously handled since the minute the vote came in.

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 14:04

It wasn't the remain campaigners who were saying it wasn't about immigration though. Same lies as the NHS bus. No wonder were fucked if 52% of the country don't care about the economy if they can get rid of some foreigners. And yet we're are apparently not in a massive xenophobic downturn. Hmm

Just for the avoidance of doubt, I do know that there are leavers who actually do give a shit about the economy. Sadly you get drowned out by those who want to see the world burn,

Valentine2 · 17/10/2016 14:04

No surfer.if you remember my posts from around 6-8 weeks ago, I have been saying the same.i don't think May doesn't know what she is doing.Hammond knows too.so does your BloJo,your Farage and your Gove.its only you,the people who didn't know what they were up to.

Seacatses · 17/10/2016 14:04

What I find hilarious (not) is that if you ask a Leaver for evidence to back up their ludicrous claims they can't give it. If a Remainer is asked for evidence (brave of you [wowow], then it gets delivered promptly, usually from multiple, reputable, sources (thanks [sally] you beat me to it). Where is wowow now I wonder? Eyes and ears closed singing 'lalalala don't care, at least we have our country back, lalala fuck the experts' am I right?
I was unable to vote btw, being European.

Bearbehind · 17/10/2016 14:05

surferjet you're clearly just being antagonistic because you have nothing intelligent to say on the subject.

We can't have remove freedom of movement and keep freedom of trade- fact.

If you'd like to argue against that please feel free.

Only on the basis that all the lazy accusations heaped upon "brexshiteers".

If you are expecting reasoned debate about the referendum and related issues, I suggest MN - particularly AIBU isn't the place for you.

Lilabee · 17/10/2016 14:11

How about reporting threads where posters accuse other posters of being a 'remoaner'? It is such a lazy and unity insult and hardly contributes to the discussion? MN? Any thoughts?

Elendon · 17/10/2016 14:15

That's where the remain camp went massively wrong, they concentrated on the economics & people didn't give a toss about that - they wanted control of their borders. Surfer

Control of 'your' borders is the last thing you are going to get.

It's what has kept the Conservative party and UKip alive in the last two decades. That's not going to be solved because to do that would be political suicide.

Seacatses · 17/10/2016 14:18

What I also really love is how these days people argue about how other people are being rude to them. I call people who voted for Brexit (unless they can give good reasons, but I've yet to meet anyone who could give a well thought out argument which wasn't based on the blatant lies spread by the Leave camp, or good ol' straightforward xenophobia) idiots, as that is what they are. But then they'll moan about how horrible I am and want an apology. Focusing on the wrong issues here me thinks. How about an apology for sending the UK up shit creek without a paddle? Hey ho.
