To do a straw poll on whether you're happy with where Brexit is heading?

Bearbehind · 16/10/2016 16:57

This isn't about the whys and wherefores of how we got here but, since no one I speak to IRL is happy with the path Brexit is leading us down and I've just seen a poll in the Metro strongly in favour of abandoning Brexit it got me wondering how wide spread it is.

This isn't supposed to be an argument thread or even how you voted, just Are you happy heading towards a hard Brexit

Yes or No

carol - and yet here you are. Hmm

I think you'll find that people's worries about visas apply to British citizens needing them to visit other countries, which has been suggested already by the EU, so you have missed the point there.

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 09:49

Oh wow Carol, our comments are deliberately dull or relentless? At least not dogmatic and misinformed eh?

LilaTheLion · 17/10/2016 09:56

No. It's an absolute shitstorm.

And no one, anywhere, has been able to give me a single reason why it's a good idea. I'm open minded, I'd listen Sovereignty and Taking Control are NOT reasons

surferjet · 17/10/2016 10:02

Yes 100% happy Smile

mybusinessidea1 · 17/10/2016 10:05

Why though surferjet I am genuinely curious as to how anyone whichever way they voted could be happy let alone 100% with what is happening right now?

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 10:06

Surferjet doesn't care, she thinks she's won something.

Tardigrade001 · 17/10/2016 10:09

No

And my "maybe it won't be that bad" hopeful thoughts are disolving fast.

I had no idea that parliamentary democracy can be eroded so quickly.

surferjet · 17/10/2016 10:21

mybusinessidea

Why shouldn't I be happy?
I voted to leave the EU ( as did the majority of people in England & Wales ) & that's what we're doing. The EU is a failing boys club & will be gone within 20 years. I'll always be proud my country left first.
My only worry is the delay in triggering A50, but March 2017 isn't that far away.

CancellyMcChequeface · 17/10/2016 10:22

Yes.

CurrerBell · 17/10/2016 10:25

No - I'm terrified about where this is heading.

Bearbehind · 17/10/2016 10:28

Many of us deliberately ignore any EU (or EU based) threads you are on because your comments are repetitive, dull and relentless.

carol the irony of that post is hysterical!

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm not commenting on why people say yes or no, just trying to see what the split is.

Yet again surfers ignorance shines through.

All hail the tyranny of the (slight) majority.

Yabbadabbo2 · 17/10/2016 10:35

Brexit has gone nowhere yet with posturing on both sites and many threats from the unelected clowns running the EU. Sooner it happens the better and if Scotland want to take back power then hand it to Brussels in exchange for the euro crack on

surferjet · 17/10/2016 10:37

Bearbehind
Seriously though, you're going to get mainly 'no' votes on here because MN is very pro EU.
I'm not sure what the purpose of this poll is, but you may as well have asked 'would you have sex with Nigel Farage' for the use it's worth.

twofingerstoGideon · 17/10/2016 10:39

Dontpanic Those who voted remain clearly want it all to go pear shaped so they can blame the mess on the 'thick racist idiots' who voted out

This sort of stupid comment is in line with the all the bullshit about remain voters being 'unpatriotic'. Yes, of course we all want to see the country go down the pan to prove that we were right. We don't care if our economy implodes, if our friends and neighbours leave the country because they don't feel welcome, if our NHS collapses. All we want is to prove a point. Fucksake.

MagikarpetRide · 17/10/2016 10:41

Ok. I'll take one for the team. If it means a way of changing the current turn of events into more economicly sound and inclusive, and less xenophobic tone then I'll shag Nigel Farage.

surferjet · 17/10/2016 10:41

Yes, the whole Scotland thing is laughable- they want independence from the UK so they can be controlled by Brussels.

Work that one out?

capercaillie · 17/10/2016 10:45

No.

And frustrated with the lack of debate and Remain voice in the media at the moment. Think Theresa May is a disaster (or doesn't know what she is doing)

ToastDemon · 17/10/2016 10:48

I agree the accusation that Remainers are hoping for it to go tits up is ludicrous. We live in this country too! I can't say rising food prices, inflation, job losses etc look particularly appealing to me either.
I have been desperate to be proved wrong. I'm still waiting, unfortunately.

smallfox2002 · 17/10/2016 10:49

But they wouln't be "controlled" by Brussles would they? All EU countries have autonomy over the vast majority of their policy decisions.

Yet more ignorance shown surfer.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 17/10/2016 10:51

There is no guarantee they can remain in the EU anyway a fact NS seems to have conveniently forgotten

surferjet · 17/10/2016 10:53

Oh fgs smallfox give it up will you, if the EU was so bloody brilliant no one would have voted to leave would they.

Hirosleaftunnel · 17/10/2016 10:58

Voted out. Living abroad, am paid in foreign currency so it's happy days. I was not born in the UK and only moved there as a teen after my home country collapsed and we were no longer welcome. All this moaning really gets on my nerves. I'm thinking of the people of Mosul today. Not worrying about some scare mongering rubbish. The U.K. is strong and it always will be, that is why people risk their lives to get there.

user1470997562 · 17/10/2016 11:05

No.

TheElementsSong · 17/10/2016 11:06

There is no guarantee they can remain in the EU anyway

When discussing Brexit-related potential problems on other threads, we are often told that "nobody knows the future" and, regardless of how unlikely it may seem, to "have faith" that we will get golden unicorns what we want. So if Nicola Sturgeon and supporters of Scottish independence want to do the same, who are we to deny them the same as we are allowing ourselves?
