"My bird"

My fiancé is great, obviously. But her refers to me as his "bird" and other people in the same way, eg.

"Fred is a great guy, he really loves his bird."

I called him on this and asked him to stop doing it and he appeared baffled and asked: "Well how do you want me to refer to you then?" I said: "Well you know o call you your name, or my fiancé, why not do that?"

He thinks I'm being OTT and making something out of nothing. AIBU to be irritated by this?

When I hear the phrase 'my bird' I always assume they are talking about the prison sentence they have served......

My DH calls women 'chicks' it drives me mad!! He says 'that chick' or 'those chicks that work in there' . I've called him on it so many times and he just can't see the problem it's so irritating. To be fair he is not english and there is a similar term in his language which as far as I can tell is not so offensive but still!

My dh occasionally calls me tut wife. I haven't murdered him yet but it gets close. I couldn't form a long term relationship with someone who called me my bird. You need to explain to him before you murder him.
