My DD is just 4 months old, we've not visited my best mates for 3 weeks as her LB (5) had chicken pox. She told me the coast was clear so I popped in for a visit.
I get a message today telling me her youngest now has pox. Aibu to be fuming at her for putting my daughter at risk? I know I am also at fault but I'm so angry right now... my daughters been poorly with a cold & has just cluster fed all day, refusing to sleep. I'm taking her to the doctors in the morning.
Aibu vent this anger at risking my daughters health at my friend?

I'm sorry your day was frustrating but I'm disappointed in the lack of chicken pictures, I was going to request somebody post silkies, they're beautiful.

RavioliOnToast · 12/10/2016 21:12

Me too MummyPig Grin

Fwiw my DD caught pox after dd1 brought them home from school at around 6 weeks old. She was absolutely fine. Handled t better than eldest DD actually. Was awful to witness, she had them in her ears, mouth and all around her bum and inside her vagina but she handled it awesome. Oh, and if your DD gets them, I'd recommend changing nappy every hour at the least and slathering on metanium cream as my DDs spots started to peel all the skin off her bum where her nappy was damp.

Thank god there are some chicken pics

YABU - chicken pox is easier to deal with the younger they are.

This chicken pleases me.

I miss my chickens. They used to sit on the sofa with me.

Not chicks yet! But they will be in around 20 days 😊

YABU to think your friend knowingly exposed your DD to pox - I'd have assumed that after 3 weeks things were safe, with the incubation period being 14-21 days. Her youngest has either come out in spots at the very end of this, or has caught it from someone else. Was your DD poorly with a cold before you visited, or since? If your DD might have chicken pox then I wouldn't take her to a doctor because she'll potentially infect everyone in the waiting room.

On a serious note, if she does have the pox, do not give her ibuprofen - it can react unpleasantly with it. One of mine had it at 6 months and it was fine - too young to scratch.

Queenbean · 12/10/2016 21:31

Soviet I see your surf chickens and raise you Monique, the chicken who really sailed around the world

Me624 · 12/10/2016 21:35

DS, now 7 months, recently had quite a nasty case of chicken pox at 5 months. He coped very well considering and was too young to scratch. FWIW, we saw 2 babies from my NCT group the day he came down with it and neither of them caught it. The doctor told me it's rare for babies under 6 months to get it as most still carry some immunity from their mother.
