To drink port like wine?

We usually drink wine and leave port for christmas only, but someone has bought us a bottle recently.
I'm currently on my 2nd glass of the evening. It goes down so well! How do people just sip it?!

Be aware that it is considerably stronger than wine!
I think port is about 20% alcohol, compared to wine being around 13%

It's fortified wine so I consider myself fortified after a large amount of port

I like a hot port with a dash of goldschlager

I had a big fucking headache the next day... lasted for a couple days .
I've stuck to tea since!

My DH drank a bottle of Port "toasting the Queen" then vomited all over my mother's white carpet. He hasn't touched it since and she hasn't let him forget it

Pre DC my DH and I used to drink the stuff like it was water most a couple of evenings a week . We used to get so sloshed we would fall asleep on the sofa and wake up fully clothed the next morning

We don't drink it now we drink baileys instead but it was fun at the time!!

Port is also lovely with fruitcake and cheese. As is whiskey. Take a bite of cake, a bite of cheese and a sip.

Port. Aargh. Worst hangover of my entire life. Even worse than the Tequila Massacre of 1989.

Be warned a Port hangover can last two days. I speak from horrible experience.
