Why are boys clothes on the high street so boring?!

Went coat shopping today.

Got dd a lovely coat from Next. Nice quick and simple.

Now to hunt for a boys coat. Why are they all blue or covered in cars?!!

I found a lovely one in GAP. A pale grey with dark grey patches...£49.99!! No chance.

Ended up getting an army green colour one from Marks and Spencer's.

Why are bright colours not seen in boys clothes on the high street? I say high street because I know you're going to provide me a lot of links for boden and boden prices.

I know! So much dull brown and orange... I want primary colours and stripes for my little chap

Two-three different aisles for girls clothes. Half an aisle maybe a full one for boys.

We have an outlet shopping mall with next, gap, marks and Spencer's, fat face and a load more shops

Otherwise it's peacocks, m and co, sainsburys and morrisons.

It is part of the training for society where girls / women are expected to spend six times as much as clothing as boys/men..

Sainsbury's is the worst offender IMO, although their baby boy offering is good. After 2, useless.

I've found nice stuff in the sale at Pumpkin patch, admittedly not on the high street but I've almost given up on the high street. Some nice stuff in M&s but not much.

It seems particularly awful! I am glad for the internet and far more interesting european child brands!

Id rather not internet buy clothes if I can

I like to see them IRL. To test the thickness and warmth. Too much faffing around to have them sent out and sent back if I don't like them.

But the nearest city with more shops is a 30 min train ride so I've got what I've got.

Just wish there was more range.

Totally agree with you. I went looking for something for a two year old boy yesterday. Absolute rubbish. There are few boys in our family so I hadn't realised what a contrast it is. I ended up with a rugby shirt from M&S - Next was especially bad - everything covered in trucks or dinosaurs! I didn't leave enough time to buy on-line and have learned now.

I hate this too. Why do they assume little boys want to be covered in pictures of Dinosaurs/cars/boats/farm machinery or wear only dull colours?

Toby Tiger and Ted Baker have colourful ranges, nicely finished and they wash well. But a bit overpriced IMO.

Rubbish aren't they!! Don't get me started on boys shoes - I only want a plain pair without bloody transport on them!!

Yes Dh is dinosaur mad so we have a lot of dinosaur clothing. Some is actually very nice and bright.

But why cars?! Don't girls drive cars too?

Outdoor type stores/ski wear usually gives you better colours.

If you are shopping at the outlet then you are buying what other people didn't so it's harder to find what you want.

It's the same as men's clothes TBH. Women have lovely glamorous dresses and men just have a suit and tie.

I'm not averse to dinosaur or car prints but I hate the sludgy colours they get put with. I like a nice bright colour.

I don't find this. I have two boys and none wear sludge colours or cars. I wouldn't look in somewhere like next for a warm winter coat though, I would look in a shop selling outdoor/ snow stuff

Ds is under 2 so still in a foot muff and pushchair

Can't afford to spend a huge amount tbh. Both coats cost £19 each which was ok. Maximum would have been around £25

Just bought my 6 yr old a bright red coat from Asda, £20 compared to the £70 Boden options. Asda baby girls stuff on the other hand is just a sea of pale pink and cartoon characters .

This has driven me nuts since DS was born nearly 4 years ago. None of my friends will come shopping with me any more as I inevitably start ranting...

I've had some luck with Primark but I find sizing a bit random.

Don't be afraid to look in the girl's aisle, trousers are trousers on little ones.

Lots of jogging bottoms type trousers and legging type trousers

You could put him in a girls coat? Some are fairly unisex..e.g. A yellow Mac or something bright green.
