Why are boys clothes on the high street so boring?!

Went coat shopping today.

Got dd a lovely coat from Next. Nice quick and simple.

Now to hunt for a boys coat. Why are they all blue or covered in cars?!!

I found a lovely one in GAP. A pale grey with dark grey patches...£49.99!! No chance.

Ended up getting an army green colour one from Marks and Spencer's.

Why are bright colours not seen in boys clothes on the high street? I say high street because I know you're going to provide me a lot of links for boden and boden prices.

I just buy from both the girls section and the boys section for my 3 yr old ds. He can wear red, pink, flowers etc just as easily as his sister can wear trucks, tractors etc. He likes flowers as much as he likes tractors after all and vice versa for his sister and they both bake, climb, slide, wrestle, paint, etc so need equally practical and cheap clothes.

Your only limited if you choose to be. At least until they learn societies norms and refuse to wear the opposite gendered clothes.

I think boys get a rubbish choice and everything is brown blue or grey. Not only that the girls section is always huge!

I go to Zara and H&M.

I know, DS has an air force blue one, DD's is bright red!

DS also moans that trousers are boring now that he's 5. None with planes or anything on. Grin

I used to shop a lot from the vertbaudet catalogue for DS. Europeans seem able to let boys wear things that arent just blue...prices reasonable too.

I used to get very worked up over this.

I once happened to see a Big Boss visiting a Petit Bateau store when shopping for a Christmas outfit for my then toddler son. I held up one of the beaufiful smocked dresses alongside the camoflauge outfit on offer for boys and said, are you really confused about your customers or something?

My boys are now 10 and 14 and for anything Christmas/Easter/special occasion related I buy pretty much everything from Brooks Brothers.

I have 12 yo and 14 yo and it's nigh on impossible to find clothes for their age, especially now BHS has gone. We actually have a big shopping centre here but the clothes shops stop boys clothes at 12 or 13. And men's clothes are too small. They're not into sports clothes so that's a no go. Naked is the way to go! I'm just not sure they'd agree! Grin

One of the good things about DP being in the RAF is that DP and DS1 and DS2 always have really good waterproof coats as they're all roughly the same size and DP passes his down whenever they give him a new one.
