AIBU to want to sack this nanny?

On the nanny's Facebook, saw the attached meme. AIBU to be hurt and angry by it? She posted it last Thursday round about 9:30 am when she was meant to be looking after our 7 month old. Her last day is Friday, so it's probably not worth the fuss, but I don't know how I'm going to look her in the face tomorrow morning and hold back some snarky comment. She's been going on and on about what a great job it is, how sad she is to leave, etc, now I feel like it's all lies and she hates us and is probably nasty to our children when we're not home.

Am I spinning out of control over nothing?

In a 'normal' job, it would mean nothing, but if someone who was caring for my kids posted that, it would annoy me too.

If she's leaving in a week anyway it's not really worth making a fuss. Just be glad you're rid of her with no drama.

It would annoy me to see that. I wouldn't Sack her it's 5 days your children have never said or shown signs of not enjoying being with her before I'm assuming? I would guess it's a silly thing she shared without thinking properly

It would annoy me but to be honest I think that's what you get for looking at an employees Facebook. Better to never look! Most of Facebook is utter bollocks anyway. She probably didn't mean it the way you think she does.

Can't decide if she's really thick and had this publicly accessible or if she's malicious and wanted me to see it. Probably best not to think about it any more, my face is getting all red and hot just thinking about it.

You are massively overthinking this. I have (an excessive amount of) things like this about all sorts of things - gardening, cooking, work, driving... they mean nothing - I just share them if they made me smile, as they might make someone else smile.

If she had been late that day and said she had slept through her alarm then you might have a point!

Yes, it's more likely she "shared" it in support of a friend who posted it. There seems to be a competition re the number of memes posted.
She is probably quite genuine about enjoying working for you.

I love my job and have posted something similar before. The sentiment has resonated in the past (in other jobs and maybe on especially hard days), and I know friends will enjoy it too!

Don't think any more of it. She won't have posted it maliciously, either, she probably didn't dream you'd ever go searching her out if you're not friends.

When you say she was meant to be looking after your dc do you mean she was Facebooking while nannying or had called in sick? (not sure if she's live in). If she was meant to be off work ill and posted that I'd be a bit Hmm but like you say not really worth making a fuss over with her leaving so soon.

I dont really know anyone that gets hyped up and excited t going to work.

Even with a nice boss and nice work place, no one really whistles to work.

She is live in, but had gone home the night before. She was late, but is always late when she comes back on a Monday morning, but I just put that down to traffic and have never given it much thought. She was Facebooking while nannying. Not ideal, but I'm not alleging that she wasn't doing her job properly! I just felt sad to think that the baby was being ignored so she could whinge about her job.

I'm definitely overthinking this. Thanks again, everybody. I have been sufficiently talked off the ledge and won't send a raging email to her posh agency tomorrow Grin

It was not necessarily a comment on you, it was possibly just something she found funny. I work with children and I see funny memes about not wanting to go to work but I don't repost them as I have Facebook friends whose children I look after and I wouldn't want them to read it and think it's how I feel about looking after their children. I love my job but I still find these memes funny because I remember being in a job I didn't like. You may be wrong to be taking her post personally but I understand it's hard handing your baby over to a stranger and how things like this can be unsettling.

Please don't speak to her about this, you won't make yourself look good. How would you start the conversation anyway - 'I was checking your FB page and I saw this ...' what is it that makes you believe one joke rather than what she says?

I would never add my employers and often they ask maybe to keep check but I always say no as I like to keep my professional life away from my personal life

Sometimes add after I've left if really like them 😂

Why is she leaving. If dc is 7mths she hasn't been there long

The lateness is wrong. If traffic is bad then she should leave earlier

Current job takes me an hr /45m but I leave 1.15 to get there. If I found that wasn't working I would leave 1.5hrs and then sit round corner reading my book 😬

Most people /employees go on the internet during working hours unless company banned it - tho least they have people company

I wouldn't say anything about the pic and status. Was prob a joke and maybe it was meant as I love my job but know a friend who doesn't
