To not give a gift?

We've randomly been invited to a wedding. A guy dh worked with briefly about 5 years ago. They met up a few times for drinks. Haven't seen him for a couple of years I'd say.

We are not going. Won't know anyone. I don't know the wife to be at all.

We don't have to give a gift right?

(We didn't even know the they were engaged until invite came)

If you've been randomly invited to a wedding and don't want to go, I would say no gift is fine, but it would be nice to send a cheap card sending best wishes. (If you even have the address, given the distant connection...!)

Good point. We don't have an address and the rsvp is only an email address

If you aren't going why would you need to give them a gift?

I don't think you give a gift as your entry fee, you give it to celebrate the event. I'd go with something inoffensive but inexpensive.
