Strange gift

Just hoping to get some idea about the gift I have received. Quick background, sent some food to the teachers at my DD's school as part of a celebration. Next day many teachers thanked me in person, expressing their like for that food item.

Today DD handed me a gift that had been passed by her teacher, to say thank you for the food I sent. It's nicely wrapped in tissue paper & ribbon, but upon opening I saw 7-9 chillies ( red and yellow).

I am not sure what to make of it. Is it an omen thing or some exotic chillies, maybe? I feel it's rude ask her what it is for. Any ideas?

Is it really that hard to distinguish between 7 and 9 items?

As weird threads go, this one's right up there on my WTF? list.

They are chillies. They are for cooking. They are a lovely gift (IMO anyway).

I don't think you need to contact an exorcist just yet.

If she sends over a shed load of garlic she possibly reckons you could be having problems with a vampire.

You could be - as Mumsnet likes to say - overthinking it.

Maybe the OP meant 79...

I think the teacher probably grows them! I would perhaps ask what type of chilli they are? They could be super hot ones or mild ones? There is a scale on the heat of chillis! You wouldn't want to put too many in your food if they're super hot ones!

Planty18 · 07/10/2016 10:20

A simple ''thank you for the chillis, do you grow them and how hot are they? That was really thoughtful'' will probably clear it all up.
