Not to cut my 11 month olds hair?

DS2 has just turned 11 months
He has beautiful blonde crazy hair, it's not massively long, some bits do touch the bottom of his neck, but it's quite thin in that baby candy floss hair type way so is all wispy and wild and gorgeous

Thing is almost every person we come across tells me he needs a hair cut! Some even offering to do it!

AIBU to think FTFO he's a baby he doesn't need a bloody hair cut! It's not in his way, it makes no difference to his life, in fact he likes to twirl it as he's falling asleep so he actually likes it a bit longer!
Like he's even sit still long enough to have it cut anyway - he's 11 months old

YANBU. My DS is 17 months with the same gorgeous hair, but red.

When someone tells me it needs cutting, I normal respond with "would you say that if he were a girl?".

My DS was 2 on August and has never had a haircut. He has long chestnut brown curls that I have no interest in cutting. Despite my Mohr's occasional digs .

Mine is 19 months old and I can't bring myself to cut it. Even though hints have been made. I'm sure mil sneakily trims it while in her care though...

YANBU I used to find this a bit irritating. DS was born with loads of dark hair so by the time he was 6 months old it was quite long and people were constantly on about him getting a haircut. It just seemed weird giving a 6 month old a haircut..
I just left it until it was starting to get so long it was annoying him - like getting in his eyes or getting covered in food and knotty. I just trimmed it shorter myself while he was asleep (I'm not a hairdresser, and it showed ), and when he was about 20 months we took him to the hairdressers for a proper cut - he loved it

No need to rush for a haircut IMO unless it's getting so long it's a bit impractical - even then you could go for a hipster man bun

People are so rude! I think I'd just say "I don't agree" or use banana's line.
DD is 5 and has two boys in her class with lovely long hair. They wear it tied back for PE. Nobody cares!

My ds 2 had a 'number one brother' top on yesterday and a teacher asked ds 15 if it was his little sister!! No hair cut yet either.

A man bun he wears leggings too, can you imagine? Peoples heads would implode!

It's not just a boy thing. My 18m old girl has a mass of tight blond curls and I'm always getting 'are you thinking of getting it cut?' Comments. Personally, I think there are too few years you can get away with mad hair and it should be embraced.

Nocapes my DS wears leggings too they just seem so comfy! I avoid buttons and zips and go for elastic

Me too Down it never seemed fair to me that little girls got to wear comfy easy leggings whereas boys pants had all kinds of buttons and zips and pockets - and were mostly horrid uncomfy jeans

I'm still sad I gave in to DH and MIL and got DS's gorgeous baby curls cut off. He looks ridiculously grown up now even though he was only 2 im July. Hold out as long as you can OP!

I can't believe some of the stuff people say to others. My 2.5 yr old DS has hair longer than that and no-one has ever said anything about cutting it. Not a peep. He's had a few "he has lovely hair" and been mistaken for a girl a few times Just ignore OP, they are little for such a short time.

My DS wears tights lol 🙊 I also have no intention of cutting his hair for a long long time so anyone that has a problem with that, or the tights, can do one

As another poster says, it's not just boys. People comment on and compliment DD's hair. She's only five months' old, but we've been receiving questions about when we're going to get her hair cut for months. I don't think it's rude though. A baby's first hair cut is one of those milestones that people like to acknowledge.

Just a smile and "I'm not ready for that just yet" is all that's required.

I cut the top of DSs hair with nail scissors when he was 4 months, he looked daft with some long straggly bits on the top and short bits everywhere else I kept the little lock though and put it with his hospital tag.

He's often in leggings though

My DS is 2 and has really long and IMO lovely hair...im always getting comments (particularly from the older generations!) about when am i getting it cut. Aaargh! . my DH also has long hair so its very normal in our house.

I regret having to have cut ds2's hair as early as I did. He was born with lovely dark brown hair. Unfortunately he caught chicken pox at 4 months old and went totally bald on one side of his head and patches fell out on the back and other side. It grew in again a couple of months later blonde!
He looked an odd piebald mess after that with dark patches, blonde patches and a long straggly bit on the top of his head.
I was sad to cut it, but he did look better and it did all grow in blonde after that!
Don't rush to cut it if you don't want to. A friend of mine didn't cut her sons hair until he was well past 3 as he had gorgeous curls! It went straight after that. People were on at her for ages to get it cut, but I agreed with her, it was too lovely to cut off. In the end she only agreed as her son started asking.

Keep the hair as long as you can!
My 15m ds is still really lacking in the hair department, although I have had to cut tiny wispy bits from above his ears as they annoy him.
