I know I have reached 'that age' when

I treat myself to an electric blanket.

Now, I will clarify that I don't know what 'that age' is but I feel that my excitement over my new electric under blanket probably means I have reached it!

How did you reach 'that age'?

I managed to oust my back out over the summer by bending over in the shower.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 03/10/2016 16:42

I knew I had reached 'that age' when I got excited about it being a breezy sunny day because I would be able to hang my washing to dry outside!

T0ldmywrath · 03/10/2016 17:00

Notso- Am I the only person who loves a cold bed? - no- I love a cold bed and cold pillow, too. (probably due to my age- I do tend to overheat at night) Smile

MrsMozart · 03/10/2016 17:03

I have bought a granny chair - it lifts up and tips you out and everyfink.

I am indeed old... ShockConfused

HemanOrSheRa · 03/10/2016 17:12

Notso and T0ld I love a cold bed too. In fact I quite enjoy it when my little dog wants to go on a 3am nosey around the garden. I can stand outside and cool down and then when I get back into bed, that has cooled down too. Bloody night sweats and hot flushes.

ItsJustNotRight · 03/10/2016 17:17

when I had a shower in a hotel recently I eyed up the mobility handle and used it while I washed my feet, definitely that age and a bit more I think

PickAChew · 03/10/2016 17:21

That age must be the one after the one where you're never sure whether to grab a hot water bottle or turn a fan on.

thewavesofthesea · 03/10/2016 17:22

When I started reading Good Housekeeping

buckingfrolicks · 03/10/2016 17:22

I'm contemplating slippers.

Taking a good book into the loo with you.

Stopping reading novels because you've read all the good ones.

Not watching tv because a) everyone is too young and b) it's all unnecessarily sexual

buckingfrolicks · 03/10/2016 17:23

damn, forgot one -

listening to The Archers.

(forgetting things)

thewavesofthesea · 03/10/2016 17:26

I've not got there quite yet, but when you 'have a fall' rather than 'fall over' is apparently the definition of being old.

Oysterbabe · 03/10/2016 17:28

I realised I have the same shoes as my MIL.

Middleoftheroad · 03/10/2016 17:30

Top tip. Overblanket better than under blanket. Don't scrimp and get dual control. I love my blankie (am ahem early 40s).

HemanOrSheRa · 03/10/2016 17:42

Right I stayed in a very nice hotel recently. Getting into the shower (over the bath) was scary. I'm quite short but the bath edge was so high and made of marble. My balance is off due to peri meno, I think, I almost had to roll into the bath Confused.

poppym12 · 03/10/2016 17:49

My mother really liked my new cardi. She's 80. I've worn it once and am now considering giving it to her as she likes it so much and because i am mortified that i bought an old lady jumper

SpookyPotato · 03/10/2016 17:55

We got so excited about our new cooker arriving today, it's very similar to the old one! Infact DP was more excited than me. We are 31..

MaQueen · 03/10/2016 18:08

A few weeks ago we were due to go out drinking with friends, but they bailed out last minute because their DC was ill.

I wasn't remotely bothered and happily changed straight into my PJs and cashmere socks, and was contentedly watching Poldark repeats by 7.30pm...

I once danced on a podium in a club packed with thousands, in little more than my underwear...I did, I really, really did [wails]

Topseyt · 03/10/2016 18:09

I remember getting excited when my microwavable slippers arrived about a year ago. No more feet remaining like blocks of ice for hours in winter.

Does that also count? Grin I am 50 now. Am I old enough for this stuff?

KatieScarlett · 03/10/2016 18:12

MaQ
DH and I have actually danced with joy at a last minute call-off. Doesn't happen often enough though. And YY to the socks. I'm eyeing up the furry heated blanket in Lakeland...

I still think of myself as a hot young thing Grin
BUT, as soon as I get home the crocs go on for my plantar fasciitis, I love, love, love my heated airer, and used it yesterday for the first time in months. I sighed with pleasure.
I will be buried wrapped in my electric blanket, and will never ever be without one again, after putting one on my bed last year for the first time.

Heaven was on a cold, dark, weekend day, getting into bed, cranking up the dial, with a cuppa and my kindle/sky remote.
Utter bliss.

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/10/2016 18:32

Rrross it took me a while to work out what sun roof jobs meant! Blush

None of my 4 were, but I obviously can't use that as an excuse for my ambush bladder now! Grin

froubylou · 03/10/2016 18:32

The highlight of the last few weeks has been trying Ocado for the first time. Am impressed so far.

Also get excited about new cleaning products. Last month's Big Thing was a little hand held vacuum cleaner that I have named Kenny after one if DPS mates that has little man syndrome.

SlinkyVagabond · 03/10/2016 18:33

Hotter shoes are looking good.
As is the JD Williams catalogue.
Sloggi big knickers-check.
My dd has nicked all my heels(and welcome to them)

cozietoesie · 03/10/2016 18:33

Hot young thing? Grin On spying something black in the charity shop, I stopped thinking 'That would be great for a party' and found myself musing 'Oh that would do fine for a funeral.'

I've bypassed being like my mother and am already turning into my grandma. Sad I gave in to electric blankets years ago.
