To think that this is the world's most expensive Advent Calendar?

I'm not going to tell you the price. But it's here

It is on Amazon. If you don't want to click the link, google Drinks by the Dram: the old and walnut rare whisky advent calendar.

WhoTF? I mean, seriously, whoTF would buy this? Did they only produce 10 boxes for the 10 richest people in the world?

isn't this one of those where the seller puts a ridiculous price so it doesn't sell until they are ready and an appropriate price?

Tuktuktaker · 04/10/2016 20:00

It's a tenth of the price if you buy it direct from the Masters of Malt website, Vanilla - a bargain, I tell you, even without Prime free delivery Wink

ClaireB29 · 04/10/2016 20:19

Please can someone link the £400 beauty ones thread for me?!? Wink

PoppyPicklesPenguin · 04/10/2016 20:37

They really do, do a £10k one

Just cheaper ones too

JeanRalphioSapersteinEsq · 04/10/2016 21:31

Blimey. And I felt guilty (briefly!) about ordering the L'Occitane £42 advent calendar yesterday......Shock

PoppyPicklesPenguin · 04/10/2016 21:48

That one looks nice

Declor does a good one for £70 as does look fantastic.

I'm starting to feel excited about Christmas and it's only October 🎅🏻

DaveGrohlsMrs · 04/10/2016 21:59

Plus £4.85 delivery?! Well I won't be buying it now!!! Grin

ooonatoffolo · 04/10/2016 22:10

I LOVE that someone has asked a sarky Qu about postage:
'Seriously?' and has got a deadpan response from the seller Grin

Clearaschristal · 04/10/2016 22:32

Anyone who buys that rubbish needs their head read!!

user1474815709 · 05/10/2016 02:21

It's not a typo, the old & rare is nearly a grand and the very old & rare is nearly 10 grand. As others said I don't know who would buy it from Amazon as I'd rather order this direct but also, if this is your advent calendar, what are you getting for Xmas?!? I guess if a new house is in order, and your solicitor saved you on some taxes, you could trick your mind to say this came for free lol unbelievable

Rowenag · 05/10/2016 06:34

I think this one costs £70 but that is only for the empty calendar - you then have to find and buy 24 gifts to put in yourself! Bargain! www.connox.co.uk/categories/seasonal/advent-season/philippi-village-advent-calendar.html?p=101109&pcr=PI&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=ProductAd&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping.de,101109&gclid=CNLHpdz3ws8CFcoaGwodrEgHWQ

joj1234 · 05/10/2016 07:48

Just a thought - people get paid to put links on blogs etc that links to products on amazon - if it does cost so much and it works on % there's a lot of money to be made with all the clicking here! Seems weird that the price wasn't put and we are encouraged to look.
Apologies if it's not, but just my thought when I read this.

VanillaSugarandChristmasSpice · 05/10/2016 08:44

I'm not getting paid. The price IS on here. RTFT not the first page. Jesus Wept.

I don't think Mumsnet would be the target demographic for product placement for an extremely expensive whisky advent calendar!!

A lot of the high end whisky is a kind of investment. Or will go into the restaurant trade as a pull for rich customers. You can go to specialist places in Scotland and pay, say, a grand for a shot of something really special - it's the kind of thing Russian oligarchs might do! We're talking the alpha wealthy here. It's a similar luxury market to things like high end sports cars - and, like a lot of things in that bracket, is holding its value right now rather better than some other kinds of investment!! (Good comic movie by Ken Loach about this called The Angel's Share, which is about a clever fraud on high end whisky drinkers).

Fortunately, for the rest of us, there is plenty, plenty of nice whisky at under £100 a bottle. Grin

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 05/10/2016 09:18

vanilla. You know you're going to get at least one of these per page, don't you? Grin

YesILikeItToo · 05/10/2016 10:15

Yes, the Q&A is a nice one and more fun on the link - you can see MN has been all over this like a rash - customers who viewed this item also viewed....

VanillaSugarandChristmasSpice · 05/10/2016 10:18

Yes Jess - you're going to discover the "real" me: rude, sweary, stroppy, a bit of a bitch really 😂😂😂😂
