On a boat once to La Gomera in the Canaries. I say to my then H 'I feel like any minute a bunch of dolphins are going to start leaping out of the waves..' He replies 'Oh no, you don't get dolphins this far south'. 30 seconds later about 20 dolphins start leaping through the bow waves, a beautiful sight. I look at him 'Porpoises on the other hand...'

Erm okay....

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 02/10/2016 11:05

I don't get the porpoise comment?

Mummydummy · 02/10/2016 11:13

He was saying he was still right as they were porpoises not dolphins. Just being pedantic to pretend he was still right when he knew nothing about the habitats of dolphins or anything else for that matter...

Oh well, I thought it was funny!

Oh I thought it was you making the porpoise comment...

It was probably one of those 'you had to be there' moments!

I think some PEOPLE always have to be right - I don't think what sex they are determines that.

TheStoic · 02/10/2016 11:31

That would've made me laugh too OP Grin

BoneyBackJefferson · 02/10/2016 11:32

Euphemia

So what is it called when women do it?

Stevefromstevenage · 02/10/2016 11:32

Yep funny.

VladmirsPoutine · 02/10/2016 11:34

Are you now divorced from him?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 02/10/2016 11:34

Boney Women don't do it because they are perfect, dontcha know?

This reminds me of a horrendous column in one of the misery porn mags called 'Aren't Men Daft'

Perhaps they could have had a section call 'Aren't Women Patronising' Grin

Grimarse · 02/10/2016 11:37

How do you know he didn't say it on porpoise.....?

He is my XH now - but he was taking the piss out of himself a bit too. He wasn't too bad about mansplaining really.

And of course women can be patronising - mainly just complaining because men dont think and do things that women do, (which women think is clearly better).

I rather enjoyed it when my teenage daughter and friends explain feminism to me.... Its quite a tricky one for a 50 year old to grasp!

I'm surprised at 50 that you didn't know what feminism was, tbh.

Wow. Where to even start with this?

TheStoic · 02/10/2016 12:06

You've completely missed the point numerous times in this thread, Livia. Which is quite a feat in a thread this short.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 02/10/2016 12:12

Yes silly me - because I don't laugh my ass off at a non funny story and consider the OP to be sexist and patronising...

Mummydummy · 02/10/2016 12:29

Oh dear Livia. As a strong woman I actually have found feminism quite an easy concept to grasp. But as a good humoured person I enjoyed the girls explaining it to me because I love youthful enthusiasm and spirit. Just like yours! Now that's patronising....

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 02/10/2016 12:50

Ah sorry I missed the good humoured element....

The long nights must just fly by in your home Grin
