To be so fed up with diets?

Mummyme1987 · 30/09/2016 22:51

Only been on it two weeks and already I'm fed up with it. It's so depressing.
I'm doing Sw but have no enthusiasm for it. Feel so fed up. I know I've got to keep going but meh. Someone give me a pep talk quick before I eat something bad.

Have a look at Michael Mosely's blood sugar diet. It is hard to begin with but it should help reset your body to crave less sugar and will massively help with the pre diabetes. thebloodsugardiet.com/forums/topic/the-challenge-of-the-fast-800/

Also, perhaps mindfulness or something similar, to help with the psychological stuff. In your situation depression and guilt are common and will contribute to poor self esteem and weight gain. You need to 'treat' your whole self and not just the weight.

Sorry, that was forum link. This explains the diet thebloodsugardiet.com/

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 10:09

Thank you, I will look at that. Mindfulness is how I'm not going completely off my rocker. Especially at 4am.

OP- you CAN cut out carbs for 1 meal??! Such a myth as carbs make you feel full short term bloated long term but protein gives you that longer term slow energy and fuller for longer. Quite a defeatist attitude to say you cant ever go without carbs! Agree with others- if you tried to cut down or cut out carbs every other night at dinner, gradually reduce portion size, eat as early as poss in evening and move around more- ie. always take the stairs, do lunges/squats in your living room etc- you'd see a difference. Try this for 4 weeks- you'd see the change.

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 10:24

I have tried cutting carbs from meals and replacing with more protein but I'm always hungry within two hours.

I can't do stairs, move around more I'm in a wheelchair

I get awful pain when I'm hungry in my stomach. I often have this in the night.

I would love to be able to be more active. It's just not going to happen.

I'm the heaviest I have ever been, I can't seem to convince myself it's time to change! 😢

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 10:29

I have stopped eating unrefined white flour only brown bread/pasta.

You could have a stomach acid problem, my husband takes tablets for hunger pains (worse at night)

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 10:30

I'm already on 300mg rantiadine at night and omprezole in the morning too. Dr just told me to avoid trigger foods.

I have huge issues with food. I'm not hugely overweight but would like to lose two stone. For me food is my emotional go to. I struggle with moderation. I can't just have one bowl of cereal I end up binge eating. For me making changes is a diet. That's just the way I think of it. I drink a lot of water, I'm following a low cal diet for the short time. But it's a constant battle.

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 13:54

I find as I don't sleep I'm ready for another meal at 3/4am

A hypnosis app might help. It won't do the work for you but it helps with will power a bit. I'm using one called "easy loss virtual gastric band". I've lost just over a stone since the beginning of august, so it's not been fast for me but I've felt it's so much easier than when i was trying to stick to a diet plan. I've eaten normal food, nothing diet, drunk more water than ever, and have been stopping when I've had enough which is a massive massive deal for me.

It might be worth a go, it's relaxing to listen to it even if nothing else.

It must be so hard trying to lose weight when you are in constant pain and in a wheelchair, I find it hard without those added difficulties. [Flowers] for even trying. I hope you find what works for you.

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 14:56

Thank you. It's character building and you soon find out who is a fair weather friend (or now ex husband). I hope the pain lessens as the weight goes but I'm not betting on it.

I've never thought of hypno tapes. I just want to feel full without over eating.

Soup is wonderful for filling you up without too many calories. Perfect for nighttime as well as it is warming and not too heavy.

ragz134 · 01/10/2016 15:44

Try writing up a list of all your barriers and then look at each in turn and how you can overcome them. Obviously you are in a difficult place with a lot more to overcome on your weight loss journey than most of us. However, attitude is a big part, try to think I CAN, I WILL... There are changes you can make, if you really want results.
Eg exercise, while not essential to weight loss, is still very good. If you have a physio they can advise, otherwise google wheelchair exercises. Something like arm exercise with tins of food as weights, repetition in sets. Won't feel like it is doing much but it will and it will hopefully boost your mood a little as you will feel like you are doing something.
Food as a reward - (I do this too, I am not having a go!) we are not dogs. Find a reward that is not food, eg buy a book, paint your nails, watch a film, whatever you like. When you say to yourself that you 'deserve' a pack of biscuits you send yourself the wrong message. What you deserve is to be happy and healthy.

liquidrevolution · 01/10/2016 15:55

So dont diet. Check out Rebelfit on Facebook and read back through the posts, there are some eye opneing facts about the big diet companies.

Doing some exercise and just eating slightly healthier is much better in the long run than trying to stick rigidly to an unsustainable and unsatisfactory diet.

liquidrevolution · 01/10/2016 15:56

Sorry OP took me so long to write that post (damn toddler!) I missed the wheelchair comment.

Mummyme1987 · 01/10/2016 15:59

Ragz I can't do anything worthwhile exercise wise. Physio is very hard going and not vigerous enough to make a difference. Other medical conditions as well as the spinal stuff make it impossible. So diet it is. Yes I need to stop using food as rewards. It's a great idea with the barriers. I'm going to do that. It might motivate me more.

They should definitely ban pringles as dangerous to health. You can't just eat a few 😩
