to secretly get rid of our kitten and tell the DC that it ran away?

Have had kitten for around 6 weeks now. DC have wanted a pet for a long time and I gave in and got one for them. Cats are easier to deal with than dogs right?

Well today, I have had enough. I had have to scoop 3 lots of shit out of the litter box and there was a piece of shit on the floor that must have come off her paws and which means that the whole house, and sofa is now covered in cat shit germs Envy puke!

It also runs up the curtains which are now all pulled. My leather --look- dining chairs have scratch marks where it keeps jumping up the back of them and it has pulled up the carpet on the stairs.

DS (6) is constantly chasing it round the house with an incessant cackle (over excited, not cruelly, the cat loves him) which does my head in and keeps taking it upstairs to lie on his bed.

Last week, it has a runny arse and I still have the wounds where I had to bath it, not before it spread kitty shit germs everywhere again.

As a side note, I also suffer from OCD. Not 'a bit' but actually diagnosed.

I love my DCs to bits but they also love the kitty a lot. I am not sure I can put them first this time!

WIBU to find a good home for it and tell them it ran off into the forest and I couldn't find it

Horrible thread, poor little cat Sad OP your duty now is to return the cat to where you got it.

So sorry for you Stratters Flowers

ReginaBlitz · 26/09/2016 07:05

They dont get any better when they are adults either..dead mice, birds and fuck knows what being brought into the house. Cats are vile bastards!! Mine is ten and still pusses me off at times.

Blueskyrain · 26/09/2016 07:42

Am I misinterpret ing here, or are your slightly miffed at your husband having the cat on his lap?

You seem to show her virtually no love or attention.

Greyponcho · 26/09/2016 07:59

Not read the whole thread, but if DCs wanted a pet you should've got one they can look after.
Time to teach them how to shovel cat shit.
stil ConfusedHmm at the prospect of cleaning shit off a cats paws... really???

Mouseinahole · 26/09/2016 08:07

I have three big kittens now aged 6,7 and 10 months. They all live indoors. At least twice a day I clear poo out of 3 litter trays. At least once a week one of them has an ear miss or goes in the wrong place. They run and jump and play. They have huge cat scratching posts (see pic) and have never scratched the furniture. Cats can be a joy and a delight...if you know what you are doing. Goldfish might be nice for your dx.

to secretly get rid of our kitten and tell the DC that it ran away?
CrimsonKing · 26/09/2016 08:11

Am I the only one who thinks it is mean to keep cats indoors? Sorry don't mean to derail.

Mouse's cats are gorgeous but it just seems a bit cruel keeping them inside. Surely they are outdoor creatures by nature.

KoalaDownUnder · 26/09/2016 08:13

He thinks she should live in the garage although I did catch him with her on his lap the other night. He said she wouldn't take No for an answer. Terribly anxious cat hmm.

Ffs, GROW UP. I know you think you're funny, but you're not.

Animals will often insist on getting 'in your face' when they are anxious.

Your two oldest children run away squeamishly from cat poo, you have OCD, and your tosser husband thinks a baby animal should live in the garage? WHY DID YOU GET IT?

I'm not even going to apologise for shouting as you are an idiot.

Laiste · 26/09/2016 08:13

Might as well jump in as well.

Other 2 are as disgusted by the poop as I am and run off shouting 'I'm not touching it'.

Sounds like a lot of sensible discussion and thought must have gone into getting this kitten between you all then Hmm

It must have been obvious to you that your older DCs weren't going to join in with the shit picking OP. I have older DCs and younger and i know damn well which one's would be reliable long term to help out with stuff like this and which wouldn't.

Re-home the cat.

Don't ever get a rabbit or a guinea pig. Both are harder work than a cat (if you're going to give proper quality of life). And guinea pigs can shite for England.

Gabilan · 26/09/2016 08:20

Anyone worried about how difficult cats are, IME they're not. Mine were feral and live largely outdoors so they are at the easy end of this. However, unless I get a shift on I will be late for work and this is the cats' fault as they got on the bed with me this morning and it was nice and snuggly. I have managed to get out of bed but now one of them is on my lap and I don't want to move her as she's all soft, fluffy and snuggly. Yes, she sometimes leaves mice on the bed but she's that cute that I forgive her.

Elephantsaremygods · 26/09/2016 08:24

crimson

Depends on the cat. Many have to stay indoors for medical reasons.

My girls are indoor cats because they have no interest in going outside. And as I live in an area where someone has been killing cats, I wouldn't feel comfortable with them being free roaming.

RedSauceAndJellyJuice · 26/09/2016 08:29

This post has highlighted exactly why people should be vetted before they can get a pet ..........

mycatwantstokillme1 · 26/09/2016 08:40

This post has highlighted exactly why people on MN should be vetted for a sense of humour before they start tapping away.

Or are some posters deliberately choosing to misread OP's posts in order to accuse her of being a kitten hater, fucking the kittens head up so badly it's going to need therapy in later life?

Jesus. She''s got a kitten, realised she can't manage the mess and wants to re-home it. From that she's turned into Attila the Hun?

I just don't understand MN at times!

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 26/09/2016 08:44

This post has highlighted how thick and stupid some people can be with regards to pet ownership......

Nothing to do with having a 'sense of humour'

mycatwantstokillme1 · 26/09/2016 08:54

mumontherun so much anger, why? she's not done anything terrible she made a mistake.

mycatwantstokillme1 · 26/09/2016 09:05

I'd expect this sort of outrage for the sick bastard last week that threw live kittens at a train near Lingwood, not for someone who's got kitten and now realised she can't handle what comes with it.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 26/09/2016 09:11

"crazydaisies

You don't deserve the happiness a cat can bring. Give it a new home (to "get rid of it" speaks volumes about what you think of the poor thing"
I think the horrible wording in the title is why a number of people thought this was a wind-up. Wish it had been actually. Sad

ReginaBlitz · 26/09/2016 09:22

"Pusses me off" I amaze myself sometimes. On a serious note though do rehome the cat living in a garage will be cruel as much as cats are fuckers if I thought I'd have to go to that extreme I'd rehome. Also please do t lie to the kids about it running away, you will be making lost posters and knocking doors for months..not to mention they will be distressed thinking the kitten is out there lost and alone.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 26/09/2016 09:36

And joking about bathing a kitten (I hope it's a fucking joke) really isn't funny.

I really don't think it was a joke, she said that she still had the wounds where she had to bath it Shock no wonder poor little thing is shiting everywhere

We rescued a cat who had been left behind in their garden when the owners moved, who does that???Angry

Iamdobby63 · 26/09/2016 09:49

I think anybody who refers to their pet as 'it' really should have the pet rehomed, take her back to the RSPCA and tell your children the truth.

🤔 This is one messed up thread.

Laiste · 26/09/2016 09:50

The trouble with 'OP's only made one little mistake what's the problem' is:

a) OP has come on and made a bit of a joke about it
b) Does an adult with OCD about germs really get a kitten by mistake? Surprised about poo? Hmm Don't they deserve a bit of a bollocking?
c) This 'one little mistake' repeats itself over and over everyday - through ignorance and/or stupidity - resulting in some cases cruelty, neglect and now we have shelters so full of these 'one mistakes' that animals are being put to sleep every day.

It's really not a lighthearted subject.

Nope don't find anything funny in an adult female complaining a baby cat does poos and sometimes needs cleaning. And calls a kitten 'it'

Nothing funny in an adult man thinking a baby cat should sleep in a garage by herself as winter approaches!

Find nothing funny in older children running away from baby cat poo! Pathetic actually

Find nothing funny in allowing a young child to chase a baby cat which obviously causes it distress.

Nothing funny at all. Take the kitten back, don't get any other pets until you all grow up and mature a bit.

Only1scoop · 26/09/2016 10:03

Nothing funny that I've noticed either.
Op sounds thick as mince.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 26/09/2016 10:04

This post has highlighted exactly why people on MN should be vetted for a sense of humour before they start tapping away

But it's not funny! There are plenty of MN threads which are hilarious. This, and the OP, is not one of them. No amount of someone saying "But I'm joking ha ha :o Hmm Wink :) " will make this thread funny.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 26/09/2016 10:05

Just crossed with about four people all saying more or less the same.
