to secretly get rid of our kitten and tell the DC that it ran away?

SaggyBaggyPuss · 25/09/2016 14:37

Have had kitten for around 6 weeks now. DC have wanted a pet for a long time and I gave in and got one for them. Cats are easier to deal with than dogs right?

Well today, I have had enough. I had have to scoop 3 lots of shit out of the litter box and there was a piece of shit on the floor that must have come off her paws and which means that the whole house, and sofa is now covered in cat shit germs Envy puke!

It also runs up the curtains which are now all pulled. My leather --look- dining chairs have scratch marks where it keeps jumping up the back of them and it has pulled up the carpet on the stairs.

DS (6) is constantly chasing it round the house with an incessant cackle (over excited, not cruelly, the cat loves him) which does my head in and keeps taking it upstairs to lie on his bed.

Last week, it has a runny arse and I still have the wounds where I had to bath it, not before it spread kitty shit germs everywhere again.

As a side note, I also suffer from OCD. Not 'a bit' but actually diagnosed.

I love my DCs to bits but they also love the kitty a lot. I am not sure I can put them first this time!

WIBU to find a good home for it and tell them it ran off into the forest and I couldn't find it

I myself am a vegetarian

And?
Does that make you exempt from responsibility to your cat?

I'm a vegetarian AND I don't take on animals as pets for shits and giggles and then 'get rid' when I can't be arsed with them anymore. Star for me clearly Hmm

ghostyslovesheep · 25/09/2016 19:24

got it off Gumtree from some shitty breeder is my guess - didn't bother to consider the implications, now wants rid - and to lie about it to her kids (who love it)

Has had plenty of none abusive comments from people here and advice

Only replies to those who agree with her

Uses mental health and vegetarianism to some how justify the above

thinks it's all a big laugh

OP you do need to consider a name change to Lord Goady McGoadface

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 25/09/2016 19:27

Yes ghosty. It's al a bit goady goady isn't it?

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 19:29

Hahaha.
Priceless.

StStrattersOfMN · 25/09/2016 19:29

Kitten is 4 months old.

The poos are solid, it's just pooing an unacceptable amount.

The DC chase/do not chase/are not being mean to the kitten (jury is out on that one with me, but I'm inclined towards it being chased).

OP is ILL dontcha know. And a vegetarian. Which excuses everything

OP over the past year I have had to rehome ALL our pets, bar the dogs. It's been incredibly upsetting a X harrowing for us - they were part of the family, and we loved them. Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my beloved Piggy, who I've had since he was an inch long. People like you, who treat living, breathing animals with such distain and lack of compassion, make my blood boil. I'd do anything to be well, and have my animals back again.

Rehome the poor little thing. And grow up.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 19:30

Another haha for your efforts @ghostyslovesheep!!!

Sillybillybonker · 25/09/2016 19:31

I don't know if anyone has said this because I don't have time to read the whole thing but telling the kids that it has got lost or run away would be very cruel to them. They would probably be very upset and worried. You are an idiot by the way.

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 19:31

The smoking daughter? Doesn't she like her, either?

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 25/09/2016 19:32

She won't answer you Stratters. She won't answer anyone who says something sensible. I'm really sorry to hear you have had to rehome some of your pets - it's always been obvious how much you love them Flowers

shillwheeler · 25/09/2016 19:33

YANBU. You should never have got it in the first place. Do the kitten and yourself a favour, find a home for it where it will be treated right.

And don't get another "pet".

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 25/09/2016 19:33

Agreed.

ilovesooty · 25/09/2016 19:33

For fuck's sake don't even consider rabbit ownership.

I'm not saying any more because I had my one and only reprimand from MNHQ through losing my temper with an irresponsible pet owner.

StStrattersOfMN · 25/09/2016 19:34

Thank you, Sukey lovely.

bumsexatthebingo · 25/09/2016 19:35

Poos aren't solid if the cat is managing to leave shitty footprints everywhere.
If kitty is 4 months now how old was it when she got it I wonder? I thought the earliest it was supposed to leave its mum was 12 weeks.

Iamdobby63 · 25/09/2016 19:36

If you do rehome the kitten you must tell your DCs the truth or they could worry what has happened to kitty and want to go out calling her and put up posters etc.

Do you love her at all? If so could you not turn this into CBT, in time you will realise no one has picked up anything nasty from her.

If not then I think you should be honest with everyone and find the kitten a nice home.

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 25/09/2016 19:36

What's the smoking daughter all about?

ghostyslovesheep · 25/09/2016 19:37

ah Stratters that's sad - they break your heart when you love them x

bumsexatthebingo · 25/09/2016 19:37

Also if she got it from Gumtree or similar she may well not know how old it is as sellers often sell them too young and pretend they're older.

WetsTheFinger · 25/09/2016 19:39

Please rehome it, poor thing.

HerFaceIsAMapOfTheWorld · 25/09/2016 19:39

lol come on op you cannot compare food to a pet, I have been reasonable in my replies to you but you are sticking your foot in it there.
What are you going to do anyway?
If you do give the kitty away please make sure you deliver him so you can at least see the house ect and speak to the people to see if they know a pet is forever basically

itlypocerka · 25/09/2016 19:40

Yanbu at all op to want to rehome this kitten, and you don't deserve the vitriol you have received on this thread. Obviously you know now that it was a mistake to ever get a pet.

Firstly I do suggest that you do the rehoming ASAP. This week if possible. The kitten will have its best chance for a happy life if it spends as much of its most kittenish months as possible in the place that will be its forever home.

Secondly ywbvvvvvu to lie to your children about what is going on. Your children would be devastated to be told that the kitten had run away and couldn't be found. Be honest. The older kids were supposed to help out and haven't and you have got to the limit of what you are prepared to put up with and no longer want any pet in the house. You are perfectly reasonable to take this position and there is no need to lie.
