Have heard a very odd tale from a friend who thinks no one would believe him and is rather stressed. Something he saw.

I'm looking out of my bedroom window over Dartmoor. There's a spaniel by my feet. He's got hairy paws.

I saw a large black cat on Bodmin moor about 15 years ago. It was as big as a dog and went quite casually across the moor behind the house I was staying at. There were 3 of us who saw it!!' There's definitely something out there

So... A dog with an amputated leg?

There are rumours of big cats on Dartmoor. Plenty of locals have seen them.

I remember someone once telling me about her very territorial Alsatian bounding after a black cat in the garden, only to return shaking with terror when he realised the black cat was bigger than him

But as for Dartmoor, well there are more things in Heaven and earth etc- I think it must have been the Wisht Hounds OP 's friend saw...
