I expect I'll be told I am.

Am running an event in a couple of weeks. Have put invites through doors, and set up something on FB (I know!) where people are invited - all they have to do is to click 'yes, I'm attending' or 'No'.

I have given contact details for landline, mobile, internet, web.

Of 112 people, 6 have replied.

Is it that difficult for people to follow a simple instruction, like "RSVP"? On the FB thing, I specifically asked people to use the buttons. All the replies so far are posted in comments.

YANBU
I'm waiting on people to RSVP to my wedding, out of maybe 100, I've had 30 back. Deadline is 30th September.
It's not that hard to tick a box on a piece of paper and put it in the stamped addressed envelope is it?! Hmm

Lilaclily · 20/09/2016 18:14

What sort of event is it ?
If it's selling stuff then no I wouldn't reply and would probably resent being asked , I'm thinking body shop selling that kind of thing?

fastdaytears · 20/09/2016 18:15

It definitely depends on the event. If it's a Forever Living party then YABVVU. If it's your wedding then YADNBU

GoldLady · 20/09/2016 18:16

I've had half a dozen people respond to a current invite days after the RSVP, which now means I've got to sort more food out etc and pay additional to the caterer!

Queenbean · 20/09/2016 18:16

Oooooh yes, what sort of event is it?

GoldLady · 20/09/2016 18:17

So no, you're not BU. It's a pita organising something.

MarklahMarklah · 20/09/2016 20:49

No, not selling anything. Not a wedding.
Just want to know numbers so I can sort out providing food & drink.

Very annoying. Time to start contacting people directly.

minatiae · 21/09/2016 01:18

TBH I rarely even open event invitations on FB. I see the notification but don't look at the page unless it's something my close friends have sent.

MarklahMarklah · 21/09/2016 13:09

Wings I'm going to have to.
Just wish there was an easy way to 'reach' this number of people.
It's that or cancel the event altogether.

Well tell them you want to provide yummy cakes or whatever, and need to know numbers, or wine then you will get hundreds

bumsexatthebingo · 21/09/2016 13:27

It depends really. Did you put an rsvp date? When did you post invitations/set up the event? What is the 'event'. If it's still 2 weeks away then that's still quite a way off. Some people might not have their hours for work etc yet so might not know if they can attend.

Queenbean · 21/09/2016 14:19

I hate FB invitations as however you reply, you always get a million notifications saying when someone else has commented / reminding you to reply / that the time has changed

If they're good enough friends to invite to something surely you have all their contact details and can just do a copy paste of a text

MarklahMarklah · 21/09/2016 14:52

Ok, it's a macmillan coffee morning thing. I put the date of the event and marked RSVP (admittedly not 'RSVP by...) but invites went out two weeks ago. I've now started chasing up.
Can't afford to send 90 odd texts!
