I had the luxury of sleeping like a starfish in a clean bed for two nights this week. Dh got back about 3 hours ago,

RedOxy · 18/09/2016 21:36

Thanks God I like the smell of DH, but I often want him to go away for at least a couple of hours (we both work from home) and hopefully take DS with him, so that I could enjoy being alone (which my introverted self craves like hell sometimes).

amy85 · 18/09/2016 21:41

Yanbu at all....I LOVE when oh is away

cuntinghomicidalcardigan · 18/09/2016 21:43

Dh is away Sunday to Friday at least every week. Sunday morning is bedding washing day! Then star fish naked in the middle of the bed for 5 glorious nights Grin

dlnex · 18/09/2016 21:49

Bliss when he was away. Perfect life after divorce. Hard path to tread.

canary1 · 18/09/2016 22:01

Oh how I wish mine would go away! Or even go out for an evening so I could feed kids beans on toast, bedtime early and enjoy the remote to myself!! He goes out about twice a year 🙁

ApolloniaVitelliCorleone · 18/09/2016 22:01

Yanbu!!!!!!! My dh has been away since last wed which coincided with the day my cleaner comes. I virtually ran home from work and have been in "vino, boxset & cheese toastie" bliss ever since!!!

MissElizaBennettsBookmark · 18/09/2016 22:02

Don't get me wrong - I love DH dearly. But I do love my own space when he's away. (3 nights a week at the mo). No dirty pots in the sink, no toothpaste and shaving foam marks on the basin, no dirty socks on the bedroom floor - and ALL of my lovely clean bed for ME and my dog

DH is going away next weekend and I can't wait! I'll change the sheets and let the cat sleep on the bed; I'll read with the big light on and not have the telly on at all (unless I want DD to be mesmerised by Peppa Pig for a bit); I'll take DD to do something he really wouldn't be up for, and I'll eat food he doesn't like. I might even leave the lid up on the toilet.

Shiningexample · 18/09/2016 22:12

this is why I love living alone
24/7 bliss :o

nursepearl · 19/09/2016 04:36

I'm loving this thread cos you are all saying exactly how I feel but when I say this in RL to people they look at me aghast as if I'm the only one! I'm not yay! The best feeling is DH away working on a Saturday night and me and my DDs can snuggle up on the sofa with duvets, snacks, a takeaway and saturday night telly and watch chick flicks instead of boring war documentaries or endless BBC news, I look forward to it so much!

Secret to a happy marriage is regular trips away

KC225 · 19/09/2016 06:10

My DH has to work one 24 shift and another till 11 every week. I love those times. I can stay on the phone all night talking to girlfriends, read in bed without waking him, watch rubbish etc. Funnily enough, I travel back to UK on my own about three times a year week on my own to see elderly mother and friends and I got him to admit he enjoys that time alone too. When the kids go to bed he said he watches obscure documentaries, horror films (which I hate) and has a proper meat fest as I don't eat it. It made us both laugh. Secret to a happy marriage, a bit of alone time for both.

moodykingfisher · 19/09/2016 06:50

DP just back from weekend away. Dishwasher was so badly loaded ! Cats in the bed, no mess. No stinky bathroom. Bliss.

80sWaistcoat · 19/09/2016 06:52

I've gone away and left my DH for the weekend alone. He won't have made the most of it...but did leave him with the responsibility of buying new TV. He'll have bought an unnecessarily huge one....

P1nkP0ppy · 19/09/2016 06:58

I'm on cloud 7!
DH away for a whole week 😊
The house's clean and tidy, no TV on unless I want to watch something, I can ( or not eat) whatever I like and the dining room table is clear of all his crap stuff.
I've stocked up with M&S ready meals, red wine and chocolate 😋

IDismyname · 19/09/2016 07:00

My DP is usually away 2 or 3 nights a week, and I love my 'me' time.

However, I now have eldest at home on a gap year, earning money before travelling (they were boarding for 6th form), so I still have company every night.

However, the bed is mine.... All mine!

Perfectlypurple · 19/09/2016 07:06

I love changing the bedding when dh is on nights. I say I but actually I get him to do it after his afternoon sleep. It's even more satisfying when I don't have to do it myself.

CatNip2 · 19/09/2016 07:31

Same here DH is away at least once a week, that say us bed changing day, always. He isn't a dishwasher nazi so I do t get any joy from that, but I do from not having continous sport on TV in the background. I potter in a clean tidy house and watch My Kitchen Rules Australia and Made in Chelsea repeats one after another.

MermaidTears · 19/09/2016 18:35

This is why I have my own double bed in the spare room.

august1982 · 19/09/2016 18:37

My hubby is a firefighter and works two nights out of every eight. Of course I love him, but I do appreciate the nights that I can go to bed early and read without feeling guilty, and let my eldest sneak in the bed to sleep with me (he is little enough that he still wants to snuggle in).

It's the secret to a good relationship I swear.

Samdensham88 · 19/09/2016 18:54

My partners working nights for a few days and I'm loving it!! 😂😂

jennielou75 · 19/09/2016 18:55

I have just been away at a congress and stayed in a hotel.....this weekend DH is going to football on Saturday so I get control of the tv.....all day.... bliss!

madmother1 · 19/09/2016 18:58

I get this feeling every single day. I really don't think I could ever live with a man again. Does that make me a bad person
