... So that I can enjoy the clean bedding all to myself?

My dp is going away tomorrow and he's filled with dread that I will abuse the dishwasher, fail to put the right bins out and that me and the kids will have a good time without him doing whatever we please .......me and the kids are planning on gleefully doing all of those things woaharrrarrraaaaaa.........

My husband works away in the week - all week every week! I'm not sure our marriage would survive if he didn't work away ha! He wants to watch movies in the week, I watch news channels & do chores & generally look after our DS in the evening. It's a nice calm gentle after work/school routine & of course the bedding ..... bliss!

If it's so great without hubby then why not become single again?

Because obviously no one on this thread wants to be alone all the time. Just that it's nice every now and then, especially when you have dc, to get a couple of hours just to 'be'.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I adore time on my own. Crap tv, junk food and no noise. If it doesn't happen on a regular basis I get moody and feel stifled. It is no reflection on how I feel about dh. I used to long for my parents to go out for the day when I was a teen too.

Hi, thought it was just me who likes putting the dishwasher on, half full AND stacked the way I like it!

DH goes away very infrequently, but it's great to have a lovely quiet house, and NO news on the TV!

Would miss him to bits if it was for tooooo long, but it is lovely having the house, bed and slobby cheesy food to myself occasionally!

My DH is very attached to the TV remote too, DontFenceMeIn. WTF is that all about?

Mine goes away tomorrow for a week, I'm weak with anticipation.

Tidy spotless house, the whole super king bed, eating what I want, trashy tv.....joy!

To the poster who asked why not be single...it is perfectly possible and healthy to love and enjoy your own company, whilst also loving your partner.

I thought my DH was the only one to leave shoes on the middle of the floor, in doorways, etc for me to fall over.
I also love being able to watch what I want on TV and actually have possession of the remote control. DH cannot bear to not hold the remote.

Because when he is around, dh is a pretty good shag.

Curviest

Because it's great when he's there too. He makes me laugh more than anyone else on the planet. He's loving, caring and loyal. He's clever, well-read and entertaining. And I love him.

He likes his time apart too. We've been married long enough to relish our separate time as well as our time together. Nothing wrong with that I think.

He's been away for longer periods - when working in the US for example - and that's a bit tougher. But he's got to work away. It's his job. (And mine too, although less often). So why not concentrate on the positives? It's better than moping. Smile

Dh say is it ok to relish a night alone in a hotel, nice fresh bedding, spa and wife and kids at home!!!

So it's a win win then!

Better than dh going away - I go away for 2 nights a week in a hotel with work. Loving the hotel sheets, room service, wine with colleagues etc. Was only supposed to do it for 3 months.....currently on month 6 Grin

We love them but it's good to have a break. I just had 9 solid days of DH company on hols and it was so relaxing when he went back to work.

I'm so relieved that I'm not the only one!! I travel for work sometimes too, and my DC tell me that when I'm away, DH spends the time watching boring war films and documentaries. I think he quite likes the space in bed too but he doesn't change the bedding

Thank you for this thread. My DH works away a lot for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, I miss him terribly and as a result have failed to recognise any advantages. I am now going to make a real effort be self indulgent and learn to like 'me time' rather than pining away feeling sorry for myself. So fresh sheets, star fish sleeping position, candles, ... Crap TV... Any other suggestions very welcome ... YANBU at all OP .. You have inspired me 💐 (he is the dishwasher police too)

I'm a bit cheesed off now. DH has an annual weekend away, just the one and it was last weekend. I changed the sheets on the Monday morning so he came home to a fresh bed. I'm so ridiculous. Smile

So glad it's not just me! I sleep so much better alone and love being able to keep the house tidy for a change. Also find caring for the two DS's much easier on my own for some reason.

Doesn't happen very often unfortunately, but then maybe that's why I appreciate the time alone so much when he is away. Smile

My oh goes away rarely but yes yes yes to the bliss of not sharing a bed and delicious fresh sheets!!!

It's so nice to know it's not just me! My wife is at college 3 days a week and I enjoy even just those couple of hours to myself to watch my favourite tv programmes, even better when DC is at nursery.

Dh works away a couple of times a month and I've grown to love it! I hated it when the dc were smaller but now they are 5 & 2 I actually find them easier to manage on my own (fewer adults for them to play up to ) plus I can watch shit tv (kuwtk), eat veggie food and have the whole bed to myself. I'm looking forward to weds when he goes again for a couple if nights

Oh and serving veggie food without someone saying, could you add some ham....
