Had to go to the other side of my city today. Some charity cycle event was on, no road blocks just a lot of cyclists with the normal heavy traffic. At several stages had cyclists on both sides of my car, they were also weaving in and out of traffic by driving in the middle of the road, cutting in front of cars etc.

Pissed me the fuck off. Why on earth is it okay for some cyclists to act like twats? On both sides of my car!! Still raging.

I have no issue as long as they wear helmets.

Why?

IceIceIce · 18/09/2016 15:59

A casual observer

Obviously because a helmet will make them and everyone around them invincible.

I fear that may be Champagneformyrealfriends' reasoning.

I mostly find cyclists here quite pleasant anyway. But I also had a nasty run in recently.

The guy came shooting out in front of us on a sort of wonky t junction. There was enough room that he didn't need to go in front of us. He could have remained further over and gone over the junction perfectly safe.

Dangerous behaviour just triggers me and I shouted at him. So he proceeded to attempt to block our still moving car.

I was furious. We moved around him somehow without causing an accident (it wasn't safe for us to slam on the breaks and why the hell should people behind us be endangered in order to avoid the idiot who thinks he can stop a car).

Anyway he caught up to us at some traffic lights and proceeded to scream at me (didn't say a word to my other half who was driving.) Tile lying me to respect bikes.

I told him to respect the fact that if he'd pulled that ridiculous stunt on me in my horsebox he'd most likely have found himself under the fucker.

Some people shouldn't be out in public tbh.

IceIceIce · 18/09/2016 16:05

Telling me to** not tile lying wtf Samsung 😂😂

I nearly get mowed down by cyclists every morning when walking to work because several persist in running red lights on a road that is actually closed to traffic anyway. I normally get a mouthful for daring to be in the way and crossing the road with the green man.

We had a pony trailer on the back of my sisters 4 x 4 last year. Going up into the peak district which is very hilly and very windy but still a reasonably busy A road coming out of Sheffield.

Some kind of cycle race on. And some complete and utter cunt of a cyclist caught a hold of the trailer presumably to get a tow up a hill.

If we had to break or change direction suddenly he would have been under the trailer. If we had the trailer weaving around he would have been under the trailer. And given the amount of fucking idiot cyclists on the road that day it was a distinct possibility.

I leant out the passanger window and suggested he let go. He told me to fuck off.

I also saw a small group nearly go into the back of some ponies with young girls on them last week. Cunts.

'Cyclists are to blame when they get knocked off and killed because they aren't wearing helmets'

'Women are to blame when they get raped because they are wearing short skirts'.

Hating cyclists for daring to use the roads is uncomfortably close to victim blaming in any other context.

The sheer amount of hatred and vitriol on this thread is terrifying. An insight into the minds of the sheer fucking morons who are driving around on the public roads.

Squirmy65ghyg · 18/09/2016 16:19

Oh wow. You went there RawPrawn?

My hatred and vitriol is not reserved solely for cyclists. Don't worry. The worst road user I know is a car driver and a horse riders. She is utterly dangerous. My other half fetched a horse for her and we were meant to be following her back. We ended up diverting and getting the sat nav out instead because being behind her was terrifying me. I was literally in a ball crying in the passenger seat.

She was swerving and breaking and the kids were literally half hanging out of the window.

And she wants a 7.5 tonner.
