12 hours ago, I had baby DD. Today she's 1.

There's no way it's been a year, so either someone has made the days shorter or someone has pressed fast forward. What the hell is going on?!?

Time usually slows down for people when they're experiencing lots of new things, so no idea.

jobrum · 16/09/2016 17:05

Exactly the same thing has happened to me. Newborn. Blinked. 20 months. And the double pink line on the pregnancy test was nearly 10 weeks ago. How the fuck?

LaurieFairyCake · 16/09/2016 17:05

I'm middle aged and my kid goes to uni tomorrow

Fuck off Grin

Welshmaenad · 16/09/2016 17:06

Five minutes ago I had a teeny tiny presume newborn, and I looked up and she's ten years old and I need to take her bra shopping. I feel you.

Welshmaenad · 16/09/2016 17:06

Presume? Preemie!!

scarednoob · 16/09/2016 17:07

And yet somehow the nights when they don't sleep last forever!

My gorgeous baby boy has turned into a "Kevin". Long waving arms and loads of "THAT'S SO UNFAIR!!" going on. Sob.

bomfunk · 16/09/2016 17:09

God yes to this. I had this little tiny bundle and now she's getting shirty with me because I don't understand the finer points of minecraft and had just had her seventh birthday. And my littlest one - my god, he went from squishy to terrible twos in the blink of an eye. Please slow down time!

AuldYow · 16/09/2016 17:12

Tell me about it, I'll be 42 next month is was merely weeks ago I was 23 Shock and I appear to have 2 children who seem to think I know what I'm doing ShockShock
At this rate I'll be retired by Christmas!

humblesims · 16/09/2016 17:18

I found the first baby year the longest year of my life. The following eighteen have gone in a flash. No idea where it all went. I still find baby socks.

Tootsiepops · 16/09/2016 17:18

I had a baby in Nov last year and time has dragged since then.

Just me then....

Toocold · 16/09/2016 17:22

I found tiny boots the other day looking for old bits, my dd has the sand size seven feet as me.. How did that happen?!

Toocold · 16/09/2016 17:22

Same not sand...

AmeliaJack · 16/09/2016 17:25

It gets worse I'm afraid OP the first two years were quite slow and then bang they're nearly 9yo.

And I'm 40 sniff, sniff

ZippyNeedsFeeding · 16/09/2016 17:38

I brought my PFB home yesterday. He was tiny. Today, he is shaving and asking for advice about women!

madasa · 16/09/2016 17:40

My daughter was only born last year and now she's buying a house....I'm sure I grounded her!

pinkieandperkie · 16/09/2016 17:46

My youngest of three moved out into his own flat. I'm officially home alone and it's so quiet. I want them all back. On the plus side housework now takes no time, hardly any cooking and washing and I get the tv remote to myself. The years have flown by

JustDanceAddict · 16/09/2016 17:50

Wait til they get to teens, then watch their baby videos. It's like watching a different Person!!

Hippywannabe · 16/09/2016 17:52

DS2 was 27 yesterday and is a policeman. I think he is lying because I'm sure he only started school a couple of years ago.
DS1 was talking about when he turns 30, ridiculous idea, I'm sure I was in my 30s only yesterday.
And as for DS3 leaving on a European tour with his band yesterday- surely he was playing an ELC guitar last week??

Bearfrills · 16/09/2016 17:55

What's that saying? The days are long but the years are short.

Yesterday I brought home a chubby little yellow faced baby with a mop of jet black hair. This morning he's a 7yo! What's more, his sister - who I swear was only born twenty minutes after him - has started full time school. My youngest, who was two lines on a test not five minutes ago, will soon be my second youngest.

Stupid time, always marching on.

Str4ngedaysindeed · 16/09/2016 17:56

I was in the special care unit with my little went girl a couple of hours ago and all of a sudden she has her own baby and is advising other women about breast-feeding! It's all very odd 😞 I also had a row only just now in Sainsbury's with my 5 year old about a sonic screwdriver he desperately wanted to buy which involved crying and he's just this minute been in to show me his A level homework. I'm looking for HG Wells personally....

Shosha1 · 16/09/2016 18:02

My tiny premie DS,spent the first three months in hospital, time went so slow, today he has just had supper with us, his pg wife, his 21 year old daughter and her 21 month old DS

HOW

WalkingBlind · 16/09/2016 18:03

It breaks my heart, feels like the first 21 years without kids lasted for 100centuries and now all I wanna do is enjoy the little buggars and be immortal... Like is that too much to ask?!

NapQueen · 16/09/2016 18:03

Pondering what to get dc2 for his first birthday next month when I suddenly realised it's actually his second birthday Blush

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/09/2016 18:03

Oh my god this makes me so sad. I don't know. Not sad, hmm... Pensive, melancholy? What's the word? Nostalgic? I don't know. Sigh, the passing of time.

On one hand it feel like DS has been here forever, on the other hand he was born just yesterday and I feel like a new parent still - he's 15 months and so independent. I swear he barely needs me anymore already 😭 And we're planning number 2 because we don't want a big gap, but how the hell has that come around already...?
