AIBU - just saw my cleaner clean the loo with a cloth and then use it in another room on my bath!

Was talking to my cleaner as I usually change beds etc while she's here, went to talk in one bathroom and she was cleaning the loo with a bright orange cloth.
Went downstairs to make us tea, she's now in out ensuite and using the same cloth on our bath. I cannot be 100% sure as we have 2 of these cloths in the bag but I will look later to see if the other one has been used.
She comes from an agency so I can just ring the agency and cancel her.
I am a spineless twat and should probably just go up and ask her though shouldn't I? I have clearly told her to use one cloth in each bathroom as we have 4 kids and there's always some virus lurking but she thinking of it she can't do that because there's only ever 2 cloths out out to be washed.
I feel slightly ill.
Someone help me phrase it so I don't sound rude??

Basic hygiene not to clean bog then taps straight after imo. Good idea to have coloured cloths for the loo only. I use wipes now as cloths harbour germs so wipe the bath/sink/windowsill then finish with the loo.

toptoe · 17/09/2016 10:47

mum used to boil her cloths on the stove in bleach. Toxic!

gemmawinegum · 17/09/2016 10:50

Am i the only one to use loo (drenched in Zoflora) to wipe over the loo? It saves having a dirty cloth hanging around because you just flush the loo roll. Then once a week i don the rubber gloves and go to town on the loo recycling the washing up sponge. Sponge then gets ditched never to see the light of day again.

PterodactylToenails · 17/09/2016 10:57

I remember visiting a friend in hospital and witnessing a cleaner wipe down the plastic mattress on the hospital bed and then using the same cloth to wipe the swivel bed tray, then the curtain rail. May not sound too bad but she was asked to clean the bed because a patient had pooed on it. I reported it...should not be happening especially in a hospital.

weepat · 17/09/2016 11:25

Blue for the loo
Pink for the sink.

Colour coded cloths is the answer.

Fizzielove · 17/09/2016 11:37

I caught my cleaner doing the same thing! So I said in a very shocked voice "you didn't just clean the loo and are now
Cleaning the sink and bath with same cloth! " she couldn't see the problem cos she'd rinsed it out! UANBU I think it is gross! I said if she really wanted to use the same cloth for the bathroom then the toilet was to be cleaned last and the cloth put in the laundry straight after.

TwoPickle · 17/09/2016 11:44

What type of coloured clothes are we talking about? The spongy ones? Link please

I don't use the same cloth per toilet clean, let alone the same loo cloth for the other areas!
I buy the pack of 20 blue cloths or the ones on a roll, I clean entire bathroom except lol first, then use it to do the loo, then chuck.
Then I use a new cloth to wash floor.
Then when I clean the other bathrooms/downstairs loo, I renew my cloth for each one.

The loo cloth should never ever clean anything else!

Verbena37 · 17/09/2016 12:23

I don't get how people keep the same loo cloth week in week out?
Are they being boil washed or bleached between uses?
Otherwise, all of those manky breeding germs will be sat there multiplying til next time!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/09/2016 12:24

Yes, people should wash them in a hot wash between washes. There's nothing wrong with re using cloths they don't need to be thrown away.

Verbena37 · 17/09/2016 12:26

I'm not sure at 60 degrees, all the germs would be killed. So becsaue I can't muster up a full load at 90 degrees, I use them once then chuck.

gemmawinegum · 17/09/2016 12:41

Bleach will kill most of the germs Verbena

TroysMammy · 17/09/2016 12:44

Although I don't like her much I use Anthea Turner's rhyme, "blue for the loo, pink for the sink".

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/09/2016 12:47

I have a rhyme about Anthea too...

Smug twat!

It's non rhyming obvs Grin

theconstantinoplegardener · 17/09/2016 13:09

I'm with you, OP - separate cloths really is very basic hygiene. I once saw my cleaner go from room to room with the same sponge floating in a bucket of manky water...It finished up sitting on my kitchen drainer where I put clean glasses and pans! I always kept separate sponges and gloves behind loo, basin etc but had never explicitly said "please don't use the same sponge for the toilet, basin and sink" because it seemed insultingly obvious.

HormonalHeap · 17/09/2016 13:13

They all do this unless you're watching. I have the best one I've ever had, gave her toilet wipes and asked her to please use them and I know she doesn't as I never have to buy more. Going to speak to her again. It's disgusting and I'm sure they don't clean their own places like that.

Beeziekn33ze · 17/09/2016 13:19

A tv documentary on a naice hotel showed a cleaner using one cloth for everything including the cups on the courtesy tray. Lovely!

Beeziekn33ze · 17/09/2016 13:23

Xpost Woowoo! I know a lot sometimes goes on in naice hotels that the public wouldn't like to know!

2010elladie · 17/09/2016 14:17

I'm a cleaner myself
The colour cloth rules are
Red cloth for the toilet only
Yellow cloth for sinks and baths only
Green cloth for food preparation only
Blue cloth for general areas only
Hope this helps Smile

LaurieMarlow · 17/09/2016 14:36

Anthea Turner is like the nadir of the sisterhood.

Being a smug twat about cleaning is the most tragic thing I can think of.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/09/2016 14:43

According to a mumsnetter who went in her show she is also quite rude apparently!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/09/2016 14:43

**on

MumblePuppy · 17/09/2016 14:45

Black. We were staying in and aparthotel once, and as I had a stinking cold I stayed in the room all day to rest. The chambermaid came in and used the used bathtowels to clean loo, sink, bath then the kitchenette.

That's when I was actually there. Boak. Hate to think what happened when no-one is looking if that is considered alright for public consumption.

We checked out early.

theconstantinoplegardener · 17/09/2016 14:52

TBF I've since had a wonderfully thorough and hygienically minded cleaner who I trust completely to do things properly whether I'm there or not. So they are out there, but I guess one can't assume that they will all adhere to the same standards.
