To think my drive is not a public turning circle

We live on a quiet road but it seems our driveway has become public property.
Whilst I acknowledge that you can't avoid delivery vans taking liberties and turning round where they can (& it seems our drive is the best place on the whole of our street for this activity), our new neighbours across the street have now started using our drive to reverse back onto in order to turn out of their own drive (& appear to have advised all their (numerous) visitors to do the same).
It sounds petty writing this but we manage to reverse out of our property without invading their drive so I can't help but think they are being a bit cheeky and getting into a habit that I would like to nip in the bud.
AIBU to see this as an irritation?

I think leaving the car on the drive for a couple of days is (dare I say) working!
4 cars have come back and reversed onto their drive from the road this evening Hmm

Lovely diagrams people. Thankyou.

Leave your car at the bottom of the drive until you get a chain.

4 cars into the same one drive just this evening?!

Quicksharp · 15/09/2016 20:01

Yep always 4 or 5 cars there Summer - seems to be a constant stream of visitors which is obviously their business as long as none of them abuse my drive Wink

I've heard another satisfying crunch tonight ! One neighbour runs a dog grooming business and her clients are always parking over our drive or in my drive (" I'll only be a minute !" Angry )one tonight was not watching where she was reversing and CRUNCH. I've caught her parked in my driveway in the past, hence the gleeful reaction.

I'm not that much of a bitch, honest. Grin

Where have you put the boulder, alpha bites? Just interested how you've stopped people using your drive (by presumably driving into it?) but you can still access it?

Picture please!! Grin

Quicksharp · 15/09/2016 21:28

Your gleeful reaction speaks to me Alpha - I'm going on a boulder hunt, you can't go over it, you can't go round it, crunch you are stuck, what a beautiful day Halo

None of you should be reversing out of your drives in the first place!

DramaAlpaca · 15/09/2016 22:50

I understand totally OP. Our new neighbours opposite constantly have visitors. They have a huge drive of their own, with space for several cars, but their visitors always seem to park opposite the entrance to our drive, which makes it difficult for us to get out as the road isn't very wide. Then when they leave they use the bottom of our drive to turn round. It's annoying.

JudyCoolibar · 16/09/2016 00:58

The Highway Code says you should reverse into a driveway "if you can". It's a manoeuvre I absolutely hate, so I put myself into the "can't" category. Our road is a cul de sac and very quiet, and I've never had an accident reversing out. And I don't use other people's driveways for the purpose.

Quicksharp · 16/09/2016 10:05

I feel your pain Alpaca, it's a nuisance but my main issue with it is lack of respect or consideration for others.
Judy 👍
