Apart from beautiful new ones...Cheshire's preferably.

Other than that, boiled potatoes are just evil.

I live for roast potatoes, mashed with butter and salt, chips, wedges...baked....all my faves.

But put a big boiled potato on my plate...then...no. Just no.

DH loves them. I usually cook so never make them unless there are nice new potatoes available.

He's cooking now...chicken breasts and fucking boiled potatoes.

AIBU? I don't know if he's attempting a gravy or anything.

One of my ' treat ' dinners is a plate of just boiled potatoes with 'real' butter and loads of salt Smile

Hate potatoes. I will tolerate a roast potato but boiled make me feel yak. I'm a child of the 70's and clearly remember my mum giving me a meal of sliced tinned corned beef, boiled potatoes and pickled beetroot. The dye from the beetroot leaked into the potatoes and the corned beef turning them lurid pink. Bleugh. Even the dog turned her nose up at the potatoes.

I love all potatoes, cooked any and every way. Some of you people are mad. Mad, I tell you!

God I would give anything for a big floury spud with salt and cold butter on it right now.

Can't get a floury potato anywhere these days.

They are nice with salad cream, as are homemade cooked in lard chips (memories of youth) ooh I haven't had salad cream for years

Ooh, chips dipped in mayonnaise, continental style. Mmm.

DS has found his people. The wee squirt will only way skinny chips or mccains smiley faces. I insist we all eat the same meal as I'm not cooking twice. So no spuds. I feel a rebellion coming on. I need a boiled spud. Preferably extra floury and served plonked in the middle of a bowl of vegetable broth. Yum.

When he was growing up my DH's family ate boiled potatoes every single day. Never mash, never chips, never roasties. They didn't put butter on them and they didn't have gravy. They ate some kind of meat such as chops, spring greens and boilers. Every single day for 18 years. He didn't taste rice until he went to uni. We NEVER have boiled potatoes.

YAdefinitelyNBU. I can just about tolerate boiled new potatoes with lots of cold butter and salt, but the only way I'll eat an ordinary boiled spud is with lots of gravy so I can mash it with my fork. Then it becomes a convenient vehicle for the gravy.
