AIBU to think that amazons delivery times are stupidly impossible.

Strangely I work - like the majority of the population.

On Monday and Tuesday I'm at work 7am-7pm. A killer pair of days but you'd think I'd catch a deliver to work but no , funnily enough it arrived at 8.10 pm and there was no one there....now I have to reschedule - but I don't work the same hours all week.

What am I supposed to do - tell them between 7-7 I'll be at work and 7.20- 11 PM at home or what - unless you are at home all day waiting in , what can you do?

It's not been an issue before so they've changed something :(

Is there a pickup location near you? Or I think you can choose a safe place where the driver can put the parcel eg. neighbour, behind outside bin.

Agree with PP. Choose a pick up location. They are often convenience stores etc that are open late so you can collect whenever and you will never miss a delivery.

I use the pick up locker because I work long hours. It's in the supermarket I drive past on my way home so I can pick up my parcel when its convenient for me.

Looks like I'm going to have to change to lockers. Annoying. As I say never been an issue before . I'm wondering if it's worth keeping prime now.

we have a pick up location, but that only works for amazon directly.
some marketplace type stuff doesn't. hmph.

Do you have a friend or relative who lives somewhere where people are in most of the time? I live with my nana and my parents and out of the four adults only one works full time so there's nearly always someone here so my sisters just get all their post delivered here and pick it up as and when.

Never had issue with Amazon delivery. I just tell them to leave in a safe place.

I think they now deliver 7am -10pm if it doesn't come Royal Mail, seems to be something like the old Home Delivery Network they use. Lockers are good but if there isn't a locker available the right size when they go to deliver to it your parcel will be returned to Amazon! Happened to my colleague.

I don't know much about Amazon but I am an Ebay business seller and there is nothing more infuriating than someone ordering an item then not being there to sign for it. Why do people do that?

If you are going to order something please be there to sign for it or have it sent to an address where someone will be there to sign.

We get charged for return deliveries. A fucking fortune!

There is actually nothing more infuriating than people sending stuff to you and you not being able to choose the carrier! I work, my neighbours work, my family work. If I could choose Royal Mail so that it would just go to the sorting office I would!

Certainly it used to be that you could mark your delivery address as a business address and they used to deliver between 8 and 5

I use Amazon a lot (have prime) but have stopped getting stuff delivered to work because of this - they would often deliver before or after business hours and I'd miss out. At home, at least I can state a 'safe place' and nothing has gone missing so far.

We have a designated 'safe place' where they usually leave it if we're not in or they'll leave it at the neighbours and pop a note in through the post box which house number it's left at etc.

Then they should rethink their shopping habits if they can't be in for a delivery or arrange for it to be delivered to someone who can.

That is rather unreasonable. Perhaps as suggested above Royal Mail should be an option so that it can be collected from the sorting office if somebody has had the cheek to nip out to collect their kids etc. I didn't know that Amazon now deliver that late so will also have to stop using my work address.

Soup " re think their shopping habits " what like stop bloody spending ? Yep. Dh would love that - well until the printer ink was awol etc !

Funnily enough when I do get time off I'm still not spending all day waiting in for parcels , even if I could specify Sunday ?

Honestly, how many people do you know who never have to go out to do the school run, or to the shops and have sufficiently flexible schedules to be able to stay in all day on any one of three or four days, because the seller has chosen a rubbish courier or hasn't given the buyer the choice of delivery options?

I prioritise sellers who offer me a choice of courier, and I will happily pay extra for decent delivery options. The sellers who aren't interested in making things work for their customers don't get my custom. Pretty easy. But sellers could be a little less sniffy about people who might not be able to put their lives on hold because they've had the temerity to buy something online.

To the people saying you shouldn't order online if you can't be there to accept the delivery:
I guess in addition to staying home for the whole day, you are saying that we are also not allowed to go to the toilet, take a shower, change a messy nappy, give the children a bath, or any activity that would prevent us to reach the door in the 30seconds it takes for the delivery person to decide noone is home??

And yes, I missed deliveries this way.

Would love to know how that can be guaranteed.

It's a buyer's market. People don't have to shop with you.

I do love the pick up from a location option. Very useful - because like most people, I don't want to wait in all day for a delivery.

You should be able to change your work address to a business address in your address book an then they aim to deliver before 6pm. It's a pull down option under your address.
