double glazing rant....

aaagggghhhhhh! We got double glazing installed almost 2 years ago by weatherseal but had nothing but trouble. The engineers have been out 6 times - back door jammed shut twice locks and hinges have been replaced, front door jammed lock replaced, our bedroom window slipped and we couldn't open it, daughters window slipped and draughty other windows silicon sealant rubbed away. They were not the cheapest quote we had but we thought reputation etc but when we have had to call to get engineer out timescales range from 3-6weeks which is not acceptable when we have two small kids. Luckily engineer lives locally and due to number of times he has been out we are on first name terms so when we have a problem he usually fits us in so it does get fixed quickly but surely this should not be the case or am i being unreasonable? What makes it worse is the number of sales/marketing calls we get from them i.e. do we want to recommend a friend ( i dont think so)they drive me mad -I have written to their head office to complain but not heard anything back ... any suggestions MN's

Write to trading standards, with a copy of your original letter of complaint to the double glazing company.

..and send a copy of the trading standards letter to the dg company.

Good luck - that kind of thing drives me potty!

Thanks for your messages --- i think what kicked it off today was I called last week to report problem with front door jamming shut got letter this morning to confirm that engineer appointment would be 9th of March and that if we weren't in for appointment - bearing in mind timescale is 9-5pm - they would charge us £100 seem to think it is acceptable cos we have a back door anyway off to write this up to trading standards probably nothing will happen but at least venting should get it off my chest
