In thinking that baking a batch of brownies for the man I am dating as a small birthday gift is too much?

So I have been speaking to this guy for 3 months now and in that time I have seen him 3 times due to work commitments and family emergencies that has taken up a lot of his free time. We are definitely progressing, however and feelings are maturing but I don't want to come off too strong by baking him something for his birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. I'm wondering whether I should give him anything at all, being that we are still so new.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Do the brownies!!

Brownies are perfect!!

KondosSecretJunkRoom · 12/09/2016 19:32

It's only brownies Confused

Unless you intend to hide a ring in the middle of one? Wink Grin

I think the safest bet to not come off desperate is for you to send some to me eat half.

SaucyJack · 12/09/2016 19:32

Too much?

A car would be too much. Some cake? Probably not.

AdmiralData · 12/09/2016 19:35

What a great idea Op comes across as casual yet thoughtful. As long as they aren't pot brownies there shouldn't be any raised eyebrows Grin

ClopySow · 12/09/2016 19:37

Totally do the brownies. Nice wee thoughtful, personal gift without the expense.

Whatslovegottodo · 12/09/2016 19:42

Sounds the perfect gift! Yummy, thoughtful without being OTT and inexpensive.

harderandharder2breathe · 12/09/2016 19:46

Lovely idea! Way to many people's heart is through their stomach! Not spending much money, but thoughtful, sounds perfect

Roundtumble · 12/09/2016 19:55

Ha ha thanks for all the responses guys! I know it seems simple, just being brownies but I would hate to come off as desperate and also for him to think he now has to do the same for me. Anyway thank you. I'll deffo be making them now Smile

Also you get to eat the brownies too right? If so YANBU

If not then don't bother Grin

Very cute and straight from the heart. What did my mum say the way to a mans heart is via his stomach. If you like him why not. I choose dh as he cooked me a nice meal (forgets the special bread that didnt rise that he spent hours making for me)

redisthenewblack · 12/09/2016 20:04

Is 'baking brownies' a euphemism?

I thought 'Netflix and chill' meant 'watch documentaries in your pjs'.

acasualobserver · 12/09/2016 20:08

Well judged early gift: not too much; not too flippant; not too intimate. Just make sure they're nice. Men like the ones with plenty of nuts IME.

Roundtumble · 12/09/2016 20:14

Lol no redisthenewblack baking brownies is just baking brownies haha

Thanks londonrach & acasualobserver That's the plan lol, I'm trying to win him over with them, not make him question his dating me with horrible brownies. I was of the same opinion in that nuts rather than triple choc would be the best option!

I left posh coffee and bubble bath (bit of an inside joke) on my now husbands doorstep on christmas day as he said he didn't have any presents to wake up to. This was only 3 weeks after we met. The bubble bath is still proudly displayed in the bathroom.

Yeah that does make me sound a little crazed, but obviously it worked!

SheldonsSpot · 12/09/2016 20:31

I wouldn't give a gift, but would wish him a happy birthday. Will you see him on his birthday?

Roundtumble · 12/09/2016 20:46

WeeWaspie Love it!
SheldonsSpot No, I wont be seeing him on his birthday as he wont be here but he will be coming to see me before he goes so I figured I'll give them to him then
