We'll have sob stories galore from the contestants and adverts every two minutes.

Slabs? Slebs, gf's.

RiverTam · 12/09/2016 19:55

Aarrgghhhh!!!

dogletsrock · 12/09/2016 19:56

It's not ITV, it's C4 that have got it. Not sure what that will do to the programme.

LemonBreeland · 12/09/2016 19:57

It would be awful on ITV. It's a perfect BBC show.

RiverTam · 12/09/2016 19:59

It'll still have a ludicrous number of ad breaks, but perhaps not quite so low rent.

Goingtobeawesome · 12/09/2016 20:06

It's apparently going to Channel 4.

PavlovianLunge · 12/09/2016 20:09

It could work on c4 if they keep the format as it is and run it over 75 minutes (60 minutes downloaded) - it doesn't have to be an hour including breaks.

If ITV gets it, all the contestants will have some kind of bereavement/adversity/non-specific sadface back-story, which will all be peddled brazenly until photogenic 20-something Cocoa-Chanelle rides her grandfather's corpse to victory in a blizzard of tears and glittery ticker tape. And it'll be sponsored by Mr Fucking Kipling.

Summerisdone · 12/09/2016 20:12

Channel 4 have confirmed it will be moving over to them

FleeBee · 12/09/2016 20:12

Would they drop that history bits to fit in the ad breaks?

RortyCrankle · 12/09/2016 20:12

That's shocking news. So this will be the last GBBO for me - no way am I sitting through what seems like hours of crappy ads. I will miss it, shame.

icelollycraving · 12/09/2016 20:15

It was better on bbc2. Things are never as good when they go to prime time. Itv would ruin it entirely. Let's hope c5 don't get it or they'll probably be naked.

EverySongbirdSays · 12/09/2016 20:19

Yes, Channel 4 have confirmed :

There will be a celebrity edition for Stand Up To Cancer in Oct 2017 followed by a series proper in 2018

user1471439727 · 12/09/2016 20:24

ITV will no doubt begin to advertise the show in every single ad break 3 months prior to the launch date, somehow shoehorn Willoughby and smug twat Schofield into presenting.

Ad breaks every five minutes, live segments with phone numbers repeated 10 times in the space of an hour so we can boot off whoever has the least sympathetic sob story, Cowell and a host of "celebrity" judges like Peter Andre, Anthony Cotton, Allison Hammond and Colleen Nolan roped in every week.

A sister show on ITV2 every night hosted by Stephen Mulhern and Ferne McCann or some other TOWIE reject, and non stop "exclusives" every day on This Morning.

All this providing they don't really spoil us and give it the Keith Lemmon treatment.

The show will be finished if it leaves the BBC.

Libitina · 12/09/2016 20:39

Channel 4 have it. Will we have a CBB/GBBO mash up? Really hope not!

I am slightlier happy about this than if ITV had got it though.

Just think, they'll have a big sparkly bake off stage with pyrotechnics and every week Sherzi/ Chezza will be moved to tears by somebody's cake. It would be like some sort of brie-induced nightmare.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 12/09/2016 20:53

Sad news. Channel 4 is the best of the other places it could have gone though.

Bloody Murdock and the Government making sure the BBC can't have any good shows anymore.

sashh · 12/09/2016 21:00

Channel 4 have got it

sashh · 12/09/2016 21:01

Oh and they are going to do a celeb version!

DogsAndCatsAndThings · 12/09/2016 21:02

YANBU

They'll trash it. Before long it will be gimmicky and over produced and holly willoughby will be at their homes interviewing them about sob stories. Say it isn't so?

Oysterbabe · 12/09/2016 21:08

It will be ruined by channel 4. Ruined! I'm not interested if Mel, Sue and Mary aren't there.

DogsAndCatsAndThings · 12/09/2016 21:09

Ahh sorry just read the Channel 4 update. It's bad but nowhere near the shitfest that ITV is. ITV is the most commercial, patronising, dumbed down drivel on TV. All those inane "talent" contests where punters are told they're something they're not in the hope the audience forget how shit the singing was and think "oh yeah actually maybe that was brilliant."

And don't get me started on their obsession with dreadful, talentless celebrities. They've got a lot of brain rot to answer for.

MrHannahSnell · 12/09/2016 21:09

Well C4 fucked up horseracing on TV so the prospects don't look good.

DogsAndCatsAndThings · 12/09/2016 21:11

Of Mel and Sue and Mary aren't there I won't watch it.

And even though I hate PH he is compelling viewing so please don't replace him with someone "current" like Joe Wicks who is just a disgusting, spitting media invention.

raviolidreaming · 12/09/2016 21:14

I don't want a celebrity version Sad

JeSuisUnChocoholic · 12/09/2016 21:17

I would watch in on Netflix because it's free, just use a different email address to sign up to a new free trial every month or Channel 4/5. But definitely not ITV.
