To ask what expensive thing you have bought which was a waste of money and what cheap things you would recommend.

I have really enjoyed the expensive thing thread. My eyes have nearly popped out at some of the stuff!
So for my expensive waste I would say it was an old Landrover discovery which cost more in repairs than our mortgage at the time and for my best cheapest I would have to plump for Stylecraft DK yarn and embroidery threads which give many hours of pleasure for very little cost.
And my most expensive...Mini Cabriolet, dog and diamonds.

The No No hair removal system was my biggest waste of money. I used it religiously as directed for 5 months and it made not one jot of difference, other than I got used to the smell of burning hair.

My favourite cheap thing was a pair of Fly Flot mules for about £25. I have worn them on and off for a few years now and every time I put my feet into them I go, "Ahhhhh".

Worst expensive buy was a Dulit toaster. I stupidly thought the toast would somehow taste better from such a well bread toaster . It tasted like normal toast surprise surprise. Then the timer switch packed in and unless you watched it like a hawk it was in real danger of burning the house down so it went in the bin.

Best cheapest buy has got to be ALDI greek style yogurt with honey. It's divine. In fact I might go and have some more right now.

I once bought a ludicrously expensive CD holder in the shape of a dinosaur. Couldn't get it home on the train and never got it back from my friend who had a car.

Cheap stuff - LIDL yoghurt.

I bought furniture from Made.com ... coffee table and two shelving units, so about £300 in total.

All arrived and all utter garbage. Materials didn't look the same as those photographed, looked cheap. Just crap. Couldn't give them away in the end.

Cheap thing- Micellar water. I just started cleansing with it and my skin is very very clear and feels lovely.

Dyson vacuum cleaner. Too heavy, kept clogging up all the time, the hose kept splitting and I got totally fed up with it.

I have now got a Shark Rotator which cost less than half of the Dyson, works in the same way but parts are much more durable, the hose doesn't split and it's incredibly light and easier to use.

My eBay selling record is testament to the many many shiny expensive things I've bought over the years only to find - usually less than a week later - that I didn't want them, didn't need them and wasn't happy once I had them!
I think I spent over £100 on a Porsche kettle once. We laugh about that now

The handheld Dyson - load of shite!!

Best thing - a washable lint roller, tiz amazing

Pampers nappies - they leak everytime!!

Aldi nappies on the other hand - brilliant!

Most expensive was £100 on a Mamas and Papas rocking baby swing things that DD went in for about 3 minutes...

Cheap thing 30p Aldi chocolate. Literally the most amazing thing ever.

Worst expensive thing was a Samsung washing machine (£1000 at the time) - completely dead after 7 months and had 6 repairs.

Best cheap thing; Vileda mop bucket - they are the best, they never break and I only replace when I feel it's time for a new one. They make every other mop bucket obsolete (I do have a life promise)

most expensive - a child.

Best cheap - a timex watch. Nice big face, easy to read and it forgives you if you forget to take it off first (or bath previously mentioned expensive child!)

Most expensive useless item was a Dyson hoover. It just didn't suck up dust. Pointless.

Cheapest was an Ikea frying pan. I've used Tefal, Le Creuset etc... and Ikea's give the same results for a fraction of the price.
