To have complained about someone's audio message playing in the hairdressers?

Went to the hairdressers this pm, a not very common visit, but looking forward to a bit of pampering, an afternoon away from the office.
3 clients - including me - in the salon and, as usual, a bit of chat and the salon playing music, reasonable volume.
Client starts playing an audio message on her phone from her grand-daughter with said gd singing. Actually quite a good voice, but played quite loudly - and of course, the salon music still playing too.
So now I am listening to both musical tracks, hairdryer next to me (other client) buzzing and blowing and people talking.
Sensory overload - but thought that the audio message would just be a snatch - to demonstrate to her stylist how good a voice the gd had, but NO the singing carried on for quite a time - several minutes!!
By now, I am feeling stressed and quite annoyed as I think it is rude to share that kind of thing without checking whether other people want to hear it!
When my stylist takes me to the basin, I say - loud enough for all of us in the hairdressers to hear- "sorry, I can't cope with both Music tracks at the same time!"
To be fair, the phone audio stopped almost immediately but no-one said anything, apart from my stylist who said, semi-jokingly, "don't know which one to listen to?"
Anyway, everyone then carries on but was I being super-sensitive or would others find this annoying and difficult?

If it's the "fuck off" one, I don't mind. I'm having such a wonderful time on school holidays nothing is going to phase me today! Wink

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/09/2016 21:58

People like the OP piss me off. If i had been the old lady i would have played it louder and at least 3 more times Grin

You rebel, you.

IzzyIsBusy · 09/09/2016 22:00

Why do posters announce they have reported a post?

It a kin to I'm telling mum. Report me by all means but dont announce it. Its not like i am shaking in my boots at the thought of MNHQ telling me off. It just makes you look a bit pathetic really.

IzzyIsBusy · 09/09/2016 22:01

Pretty sure you can still tell people to fuck off on here. Unless it really has gone all nethuns Confused

Kr1stina · 09/09/2016 22:02

Yes I would have found it annoying
No I wouldn't have said anything
However if it had gone on for more than about 5 mins I wouod have done this Hmm face discreetly at my hairdresser

Adnerb95 · 09/09/2016 22:03

Some pretty illogical reasoning going on here. Apparently, singing is alright; kids making a noise is not. OK ...

(I don't have any screaming whiny kids, they are in their late twenties)

Oh christ it appears you cannot tell another poster to fuck off anymore!Shock

I shall leave the thread to weep for a while.

Seriously though its words on a screen not spat in your face. Very sad and very pathetic.

DropYourSword · 09/09/2016 22:05

I presume they were absolutely silent throughout their entire childhood OP.

Kr1stina · 09/09/2016 22:05

BTW my hairdresser shows me videos of his dogs.

I hate videos AND dogs . But I smile and nod.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 09/09/2016 22:06

I'd love to know what oasis of tranquility some posters here go to get their hair cut such that a couple of minutes of competitive warbling sends them over the edge. Grin

At my local salon, it's a cacophony of screeching, warbling, shouting, singing, swearing. And that's just me.

DropYourSword · 09/09/2016 22:06

I'm with you Izzy, I don't think you said anything worthy of deleting and it's bloody pathetic to be censored like that.

Cherrysoup · 09/09/2016 22:08

YANBU. This would have driven me nuts and it was selfish of 'proud grandma' to impose this on an already noisy environment. Sounds horrible, frankly.

IzzyIsBusy · 09/09/2016 22:09

Its ok to be a patronising arse but to respond with a rightfully placed fuck off is a sin.......weep sob snort cry some more.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 09/09/2016 22:09

BTW my hairdresser shows me videos of his dogs.

Now, that I would like. Grin

Reminds me of a conversation between my Glaswegian beautician and her mate on the subject on her mutt: "it's jist like ye say, Maisie, God is Dug backwards."

Adnerb95 · 09/09/2016 22:11

No far from silent, drop but I was always mortified if their noise impinged on other people's peace and quiet and made efforts to ensure that they were considerate of others. Not always successful - and if someone commented on it, I apologised and "extracted" dcs from the situation.

I told you I was reporting you because you are definitely the type of poster to gnash their teeth and demand to know who reported you.

You have been consistently aggressive and unpleasant and waaay over invested in this thread.

DropYourSword · 09/09/2016 22:13

But you weren't in a peaceful quiet environment. You were in a hairdressers. Music playing. People talking. Hairdryers blowing.

Kr1stina · 09/09/2016 22:14

Bitchy - I'll give him your number Grin

< continues in jovial tone , ignoring nastiness >

LeonardInTheArgosBag · 09/09/2016 22:14

Izzy you're winding yourself up into a lather. It's just words on a screen, right? A patronising tone shouldn't make you THAT angry.

Binkybix · 09/09/2016 22:15

Whether OP's kids made noise is completely irrelevant to the playing in a public place of a prolonged and annoying clip of a grown women (that presumably no one else gave a flying fuck about) singing.

Buzzardbird · 09/09/2016 22:16

I'm with you Bitchy. I am very sensitive to noise, but I don't expect any piece at the hairdressers, where I suspect people go to listen to the sound of their own opinions.
Yesterday I bit my lip whilst the hairdresser next to me announced to anyone who couldn't help but hear her take on 'naughty children just needing her form of discipline'. Hmm

IzzyIsBusy · 09/09/2016 22:16

I cant reply i am too busy crying over my deletion.

cottencandy55 · 09/09/2016 22:16

I wouldn't have said anything but I don't think you have been unreasonable by saying something must have been annoying.

Buzzardbird · 09/09/2016 22:17

Ah fuck peace! I obviously don't expect a 'piece' either, a coffee maybe, but not a 'piece'.

Adnerb95 · 09/09/2016 22:18

Quite drop - yes, a bit of a buzz which doesn't bother me - as I have already said. However, makes a big difference to then have another loud noise superimposed on this.
