Anyone like to put names forward for a charity that my daughter school can do a fundraiser for?

My daughter (14) and her best friend are holding a sweet sale and are selling fizzy drinks at school in a few weeks but they haven't come up with a good charity they'd like to support yet, 50% of all of the profits will go to the charity and 50% will go towards buying supplies as they will be doing this once a month until the end of Y11.
They want to support a different charity each month. We will be putting names of charities in a hat and picking them out each month.

Bradleylowerysfight.org.uk if your near the North East you can't help but have heard of it.

Bradley Lowey is 5 year’s old.

At the age of 2 he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and battled with it for over 2 until he was successful in beating the Cancer. He went into remission.

In July 2016, Bradley relapsed. A very sad moment for us all.

Specialist and progressive treatment for this kind of Cancer is not available in this country and to send Bradley abroad for specialist treatment we have started fundraising again.

We need £700,000

Seems like everyone in the North East is trying to get this little lad to America for treatment. The £700,000 is for treatment only not coats for the family to go over etc. They have about £425,000 now but time is not on their side.

I would suggest researching charities close to home OP. They're usually the ones that need it the most.

RNLI or a local charity.

Headway. They help people with acquired brain injuries (from both trauma or illness).

I vote for a lesser known charity. something that is relevent to kids in school. something that lacks funding anyway.

Your local air ambulance?

IvysMum12 · 08/09/2016 18:39

That's such a lovely thing to do.
May I suggest the Teenage Cancer Trust?

Kidscape or ditch the label (both to do with bullying)

Another vote for BLISS...they support families of babies born too soon, too sick or too small...

My DD is hoping to raise £15 each week for the selected charites.

Aching Arms?

It is a charity that provides comfort for parents who have lost babies either during pregnancy or after birth.

Local air ambulance??

SingaSong12 · 08/09/2016 18:45

If it is a medical charity perhaps Parkinson's UK. Charities like this or the Samaritans find it harder to raise money then large cancer charities. Otherwise maybe your local hospice or homeless shelter.

beckslovestimmy · 08/09/2016 18:49

British heart foundation.
