To think Madonna didn't get very good legal advice

To think considering the amount of money she had she didn't realise she was very very unlikely to win the custody over rococo

In the uk childrens wishes are taken into account from about 14 and at 16 Barr proven abuse or neglect there would be no was a judge would rule in her favour

As going against there wishes often lead to negative behaviour running away Ect

My thoughts were only that maybe she thought it to be a lot like the us were often the child up to 18 has no say and court orders in custody are enfosed strictly till then

Any way seeing as guy has a stay at home wife one would of thought it's a much better envoirment that being looked after by staff whiles she's is on tour when I believed the first issues arouse

Don't worry Anna, they won't be reading it Wink

NightWanderer · 08/09/2016 15:33

Oh, I've been reading stuff about the actress from Gossip Girl and her custody case. There's a lot of weird shit there.

The reality is though that we don't know these people, we don't know the details of their lives and we know very little about the Rocco court case/judgement.

It's just speculation. No one knows anything really.

Lweji · 08/09/2016 15:36

I saw these news and, regardless of the ins and outs, it would be unlikely that any court could force a 16 year old to live with one of his parents. Unless one of them is abusive, in which case, I'd imagine contact would be restricted.

She is also silly to drag this through the courts with a 16 year old. I imagine that it can only damage further her relationship with her son.

AnnaMarlowe · 08/09/2016 15:40

Don't actually you don't know that.

Friends or relatives of theirs could well be MNers.

Besides just because you are being mean behind someone's back doesn't make it any less nasty.

It's not a soap opera, it's someone's life.

trafalgargal · 08/09/2016 15:41

Rococo started his education over here though . I seem to remember he and Lourdes attended the Lycee in Kensington. As for following an American high school curriculum it's entirely possible to do that in London as there are several American schools. Even if he does A levels he could still attend college in the US if he wanted to and had the grades. Basically though it sounds like he got sick of getting dragged off on tour , few artists kids do it beyond school starting age as it's simply tedious and disruptive . It's really like any other job with travel you see little more than the airport, hotel and venue then move on to the next city. Even if Guy is on location he still has more stability with Guys wife and his half sibs in London than living in the US and touring with Mum or staying home with the hired help.

RebeccaWithTheGoodHair · 08/09/2016 15:43

Where are all the Rococos coming from? Is it an autocorrect?

Lweji · 08/09/2016 15:46

Sorry, but this made me chuckle.

a) that Guy's wife would look after Rocco, rather than him, mostly
b) that a 16 year old is supposed to be "looked after"

Lweji · 08/09/2016 15:48

It doesn't look like the OP is using autocorrect, for some reason.

SoupDragon · 08/09/2016 15:55

Rocco autocorrects to rococo on my iPad.

Lunde · 08/09/2016 15:58

Didn't Rocco still have a nanny/manny at 16?

trafalgargal · 08/09/2016 16:00

Mine too,

At 16 the laws of both countries deem him a minor so is technically under the supervision of a parent or guardian and things like legal consent for various things come into play (whether he listens to them or not at 16 is a whole nother matter though !)

pleasemothermay1 · 08/09/2016 16:03

Sorry but 16 still need some supervision I would imagine that chef marco is wishing he had given his son a bit more when he WAs younger

The reason why we assume it would by guys wife rather than him as guys is a director and isn't at home often however guys wife has small children and is not really a pop star or anything so is uk based

Lweji · 08/09/2016 16:05

Some supervision is light years away from "being looked after", particularly by a SAHP.

ToxicLadybird · 08/09/2016 16:06

Give the poor woman a break. She's a mum who's fought tooth and nail to keep her child with her and lost. She must be devastated.

PerspicaciaTick · 08/09/2016 16:08

This should have been settled by family counselling and mediation before it got to within a million miles of a courtroom.

dustarr73 · 08/09/2016 16:22

I think she loves her kids and she is doing the best for them. She tours because its her livelihood.Bet you wouldnt say that about a man.

Lweji · 08/09/2016 16:24

She tours because its her livelihood.

Does she need to work these days?

ADishBestEatenCold · 08/09/2016 16:30

^ This.

ghostyslovesheep · 08/09/2016 16:30

I find this thread rather judgemental and gossipy

we have no idea what their private relationships are like - but the idea that a woman is a bad mother for working - especially when she doesn't 'need' to is odd - his dad works but his wife is a SAHM so that makes them better parents?

I agree the wishes of the child should be paramount - beyond that no one knows the reality of the situation

eyebrowsonfleek · 08/09/2016 16:38

I think that Madonna's children (Lourdes and Rocco) seem to be very down to earth considering their upbringing. It would be easy for them to slip into becoming a Sophia Richie or Paris Hilton.

I have a similar age child and they would pick stability. Their friends are their top priority at that age so I'm not surprised to hear that Rocco would choose to stay in the UK.

I doubt that Madonna had poor legal advice and who are we to say if she was desperate, trying to get one over Guy or just wanted him close to her? International splits are obviously very complicated and Rocco must be very relieved that he can stay in the UK.

ghostyslovesheep · 08/09/2016 16:43

she has 4 children

Lweji · 08/09/2016 16:45

the idea that a woman is a bad mother for working - especially when she doesn't 'need' to is odd

I don't think anyone, possibly except the OP, said she was a bad mother, certainly not for working.

But she doesn't need to work (unless she's spent most of her earnings by now).
And certainly using a SAHSM as a criteria for anyone, let alone a 16 year old, is laughable.

Still, it's not really a mum fighting tooth and nail to keep her child. The child is 16. He can make choices. And forcing him to stay with her through the court is not a good idea.
For all I know she's a better parent than Guy, but it's a 16 year old.

Even with an 11 year old, I don't think I'd impose a relationship with him through a court order. It's madness.

eyebrowsonfleek · 08/09/2016 16:48

I know she has more than 2 kids. The other 2 are at the age where they are always with adults so not able to comment on them.

ghostyslovesheep · 08/09/2016 16:48

but it shouldn't matter if she needs to work or not - Guy Richie probably doesn't need to work but his working isn't even raised as an issue

gah I'm getting to involved in this thread - I don't know the people involved - it's all tacky!

dustarr73 · 08/09/2016 17:03

Look nobody knows her personally she could be June Cleaver or Joan Crawford. She fought for her son,and for all we know she gave up gracefully.
