AIBU to absolutely loathe September

I hate this month so much.. nothing to look forward to apart from cold, long nights, endless work and at least 8 months till sunshine.. oh woe is me, woe is ME!

OP posts:

September and October are lovely, often decent temperatures, autumn colours, conkers, crisp morning air.

I hate November. I finally realise the shops are putting stuff onto us with no escape (I know Debenhams, Card Factory and others have it in stock already but I can blend it out), it is dark and rainy. December is lovely, lots of colours , fun, days to look forward, activities to do.

January/Februray - please can we move straight into mid-March please.

GarlicMist · 07/09/2016 23:49

I'm with you, OP. September means six months of increasingly unbearable torment are on their way. Yes, I do have SAD. Yes, I do have one of those lamps. This year I'm going to try and afford sunbeds from October-April.

29°???!!! I'm so jealous! High of 23° here today, and that's scorchio for the West Midlands Envy I'm wearing a sweater & woolly socks!

GooodMythicalMorning · 07/09/2016 23:49

Yabu. My birthdays in September.

ilovesooty · 07/09/2016 23:56

Beast most of that sounds lovely but skiing isn't for me. I loathe snow.

At least next year I have a friend getting married in Mexico in November so there is that to look forward to.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 07/09/2016 23:56

Don't be jealous. It was 32 here today, felt like 41 with the humidex. Over 70% humidity which feels like constantly being slapped with a hot wet flannel. Tis gross.

Bonus though is that over 40 degrees means I don't cook. We ordered pizza. Smile

WhatamessIgotinto · 07/09/2016 23:57

YABU. What's the point in making yourself miserable about something you can do nothing about?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 07/09/2016 23:57

I want PROPER September with honey-gold sunshine, deep blue skies, cool breezes and the smell of autumn in the air.

Humph.

Glastokitty · 08/09/2016 00:01

I love September, but only because I'm in Oz and it means its the beginning of Spring! Winter has been horrible this year, lots of rain and windy as hell, so I'm looking forward to a lovely sunny spring with all the wildflowers coming out, and getting the pool ready, and cranking up the barbeque. Even though winters here are short and nothing like as cold as the UK, I still bloody hate it, and have decided next year I am going to do what every other self respecting Western Aussie does, and piss off to Bali for a week in the middle of it.

SherlockPotter · 08/09/2016 00:03

I love the next few months because of: my birthday (this month), Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas! I really can't wait for the weather to start getting cold again Smile

GarlicMist · 08/09/2016 00:52

You win, Hearts :) Over 40 is too hot, even by my heat-seeking standards. Hope the pizza was good!

drigon · 08/09/2016 01:34

It's my favourite month. Still warm, usually, not hot like now. We have a jolly Fair in my town too, so a bit of excitement there! Plenty of light in the daytime and the trees and flowers are still beautiful. The darkness is creeping in though.

Arealhumanbeing · 08/09/2016 01:38

September is my favourite month. Although it has been spoiled somewhat the last few years with hot weather.

Regardless I can always be found happily sweltering in my cashmere and leather boots. I come to life socially too, can't wait to get people together for dinners and drinks and love making our house cozy and welcoming.

I hate spring. The first daffodils make me sad.

Summerwood1 · 08/09/2016 02:45

The actual month I like. It's what happens within that month that I really don't like!

BeALert · 08/09/2016 03:11

I go into denial in September. It's not getting cooler. The leaves are NOT falling off the trees. Summer is not ending.

Mind you, at least it's not as bad as March, when we usually get another 2 feet of snow on top of the existing 7 feet.

Spudlet · 08/09/2016 03:51

Please let proper September weather arrive soon. It's vilely hot and sticky here. I hate it.

Yorkieheaven · 08/09/2016 05:50

With you op. It's the slippy slope to cold dark grey rainy depressing times.

Roll on April

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/09/2016 05:55

Yabu. My second favourite month. I love it. Can't think what there is not to like about it.

AprilShowers16 · 08/09/2016 05:57

September is a great month, often the weather is nicer that August (although we had a good August this year). January And February are the worst!

Huldra · 08/09/2016 06:58

There needs to be a public holiday in late October or early November.

pictish · 08/09/2016 07:04

The problem lies with January and February more imo. September and much of October can be very beautiful with the Autumn colours and the crisp seasonal air...while November and December see Christmas coming in and all the excitement surrounding that. It's what comes after...the seemingly never-ending bleakness of Jan, Feb and often much of March.
The winters are long and rather strung out in UK. By February I am gagging on a bit of sun and greenery. I think February is the worst month...September is lovely compared.

onedogatoddlerandababy · 08/09/2016 07:05

YANBU - it's my birthday soon Wink

wanderings · 08/09/2016 07:06

Well, quite. Why not make it 31st October, and wait for the "AIBU to hate Hallowe'en" threads to appear? (Dusts the cobwebs off the decorations: oh the irony!)

onedogatoddlerandababy · 08/09/2016 07:07

Whoops - that should be YABU.
I blame the small shrieking people who have woken me too early again

BikeRunSki · 08/09/2016 07:28

We have a birthday every month between now and Christmas. With those and Guy Fawkes and Halloween, it's just party, party, party here. I love the optimism of the new academic year, the freshness of the air after the mugginess of the summer. Big boots and woolly jumpers! Shorter working days (I work outside). Bring it on!

PerspicaciaTick · 08/09/2016 07:30

I woke up today to blue skies and a slight chill in the air. I'm having a bowl of baked plums from the garden for breakfast and homegrown tomato soup for lunch. It is such a lovely, mellow month.

February and March can do one though.
