Voluntary work placement

Hi All
I'm enrolled on a TA course Level 3 Cache and was told I need to be working in a school. I am having a hell of a time trying to get a placement, paid or unpaid.
I've worked in schools before as Receptionist and Meal Time Supervisor but it was ages ago. I've tried writing to various secondary Schools in my area no luck so far.
Help me please, I'm going mad arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Schools are usually the easiest place to get work experience, go through the yellow pages (( or equivalent) starting with any schools your children are at / have been at.
