My bed, my space?

We live in a small place and guests tend to stay on a sofa bed in our living room. We used to have more space but then we had kids! In-laws are visiting soon and DH wants us to give them our bed and for us to sleep on the sofa bed. It's for less than a week so not long, but AIBU for not wanting them to sleep in my bed? I feel strange about someone else sleeping in my bed!

I always give up my bed to visitors (no DP so it only I have to sleep on the sofa bed). I can't stand having other people's stuff around the house and I much prefer them to have my room where they can keep their bags, wash kit and so on.

As a kid who was always kicked out of their room please don't do it to them. I hated it. Nowhere to call my own and having to wait ages for them all to stop bloody yacking around the teapot so I could go to bed. I didn't mind as such but I hated being room-less.

You do sound a miserable lot... We always gave our bed to DP/PIL and slept on blow-up beds - or the floor - when they stayed with us. Now that we're the DP/PIL, we find ourselves relegated to any odd bed/mattress - sometimes the sofa - when we stay with the DC...
DH asked me plaintively, 'When will it be our turn?' Sad Hey ho... Grin

I would give up my bed for my parents, Mum wouldn't sleep well on a sofa bed (Dad would be fine). For me it would depend on the age and general health of the visitor (and I love short term visitors so wouldn't suggest a BnB).

Luckily I have a spare room so it's rarely an issue.
