Just that really.
Apologies if there is already a thread, I haven't seen it.

Surely it's just common sense that if someone is already stated they wanted to buy one of the display models, that you'd prefer a young child not touching it in case they broke it. Mum should have distracted her child from it and steered them towards other activities. "No, this one belongs to this lady, let's go look at the blue one down the end."

In the article it says they like playing in the water. I bet they were making a lovely splashy mess that the staff member is expected to clean up.

SodTheSpecialSnowflakes · 04/09/2016 22:32

More FB shaming. All these attention seeking drama lovers. This is getting ridiculous now.

raspberrysuicide · 04/09/2016 22:38

What a load of crap! I hate these days when everyone posts stuff on social media like anyone else cares!

Hmmnotkeen · 04/09/2016 22:42

All of this FB shaming should be treated as bollocks until proved true. Really.

phillipp · 05/09/2016 05:55

Well that's a totally different story.

In the article she was stopped by a manager on the way out.

In the dads post there was one child and the shop assistant was rude and brought the manager over because she didn't like the woman's tone.

You would think people would at least keep their story straight.

Mypurplecaravan · 05/09/2016 07:20

"Both my children were going up and down touching the water features"

Another woman wants to buy one removes boy's hand from the one she wants to buy. More than once ie he is running up and down to it.

Nothing in this account about a man shouting in their faces.

Shop displays are not sensory toys.

Latest posted on social media - sort of says it all!!!

I’m the Store Manager of The Range in Newport and have been looking into the accusations that were today printed in the South Wales Argus and the other version of events that have been widely circulated on social media.

Having read these accusations I can fully understand how feelings would be riding so high about these circumstances. However as the saying goes, there are always two sides to every story.

Mrs Bindon’s two children were climbing over a display that contained several electric water features that are regularly cleaned with chlorine, a member of my staff was very concerned that the children could fall and hurt themselves and was also concerned that the features had recently been cleaned with chlorine (there are signs stating this) so she asked Mrs Bindon on several occasions to tell her children to jump down off the displays.

I would just like to clarify that at no time was Mrs Bindon told to leave the store due to the behaviour of her children, why would we?

Mrs Bindon was very vocal towards some elderly customers who she claimed had pushed her children, there is no evidence at all to back up this claim and I sincerely hope the customers in question come forward to say from their point of view what happened.

Mrs Bindon continued to be verbally abusive towards a member of staff and a duty manager and was told that if she continued shouting and swearing then she would be asked to leave the store, after speaking to the duty manager Mrs Bindon continued browsing in the store for several minutes.

As a retailer I welcome everyone into my store and as a parent I appreciate how shopping trips can be hard work.

As I said earlier though having read what was printed and shared on social media, I fully understand the response that this has caused, but hopefully this post will help people come to a more informed view of what actually happened.

LunaLoveg00d · 05/09/2016 17:42

Good on the manager for responding and giving the real version of events!

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 05/09/2016 17:58

That sounds like a far more realistic version of events.

I hope the keyboard warriors retract their awful reviews of the store and apologise.

I doubt it though, they will just latch onto the next half truth and do the same again

Good on the manager for calling her out on being a lying, aggressive twat.

Sometimes I wish FB came with an IQ filter, to screen out the overload of stupid. Hmm

MoreCoffeeNow · 05/09/2016 19:17

How embarrassing for those posting in her support.

I feel sorry for those poor kids.

Scumbag makes scene in store. Scumbag doesn't get own way so froths on Facebook. Thickos read lies and try to spread. Scumbag goes to paper to do 'sad face'. Forgets half of lies. Truth comes out. Scumbag and thickos look even worse.
Is that the summary?

WhatTheActualFugg · 05/09/2016 19:48

I love The Range.

Where else can you buy a picture frame, a tumble dryer hose and a bumper bag of sweets all under one roof?!

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 05/09/2016 19:50

In the 80s when woolworths was on the go whatthe Grin

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/09/2016 19:57

My first thought was someone wants a free water feature so decided to make up a story. Good on the manager for responding.

I must admit I do use social media for complaints especially about shitty Virgin Media but generally only when I haven't got anywhere with customer service.

ShtoppenDerFloppen · 05/09/2016 19:58

I have a disabled child. Because of this, things are occasionally more challenging than an average individual.

We had some significant challenges with a rail line and booking tickets. I called their customer service line and discussed the issue withere them. They asked me to give them time to investigate, so I waited. They called me back and said that they had reviewed the recordings and agreed that the agent I spoke to required "intensive coaching".

I thanked them for looking in to it and asked what I could do differently in the futurend to keep from it happening again. They gave me suggestions and offered a discount on our next trip as an apology. I accepted it and thanked them.

Oh, shit! Did I do it wrong? Was I supposed to lose the plot on social media?

Some one, please, teach me the way to complain in 2016!

WhatTheActualFugg · 05/09/2016 19:59

I do really miss Woolies. Sad

phillipp · 05/09/2016 20:03

Wonder why the OP hasn't been back, especially in light of the managers response. Confused

ShtoppenDerFloppen · 05/09/2016 20:11

I can't imagine why... maybe feeling like a bit of a fool now?

Scrumptiousbears · 05/09/2016 20:13

What a load of bollocks. OP don't get involved and stop fighting some other muppets corner!

*Omg im soooo angry at this post . How your company lets you post this i dont know i have just had a email off your head office that says different to your post to .

this is the sort of thing i was expecting to hear .

my son once went to climb and my wife stopped him and they touch them Also we have been in your shop well over a 1000 times and never before been told to not touch the water features and the staff member never told her to stop it wasnt till after my son was pushed that the staff said any thing

i have had many members of staff and customers far more than you can supply who say that there is cctv in the store but the member of management told us there wasnt any because if they checked this they would have seen that my wife was right .

i have been with my wife for 14 years and know for a fact my wife wouldnt swear infront of my kids . Yes she was angry the customer had touch our kids and been aggressive towards her who wouldnt be .

my son should not have been touched and when your staff was told they should have investigated it and not just took the other persons word and make my wife feel like a criminal. Thats why my wife was upset as i hope you can understand any parent would be .

I hope you can understand that there is no way any of the people involved would turn around and say yes it was us as it would mean serious trouble for them hence why you have been lied to . Why would we lie why i dont what anything from you other than this to never happen again it would make no sense.

So where is this cctv and as for tbe elderly people we have pictures of the the so called elderly people who are not elderly and if we was such aggressive people we would have posted them .
I wasnt going to take it any further all i asked for was a apology and some training but now I will take it to every newspaper and even the tv to bring to light what has happened .*

This is the response from the father to the ranges statement

He's on Facebook.
