A' AGL - happy?

More nonsense and utter bollocks, plus heart-warming moments of honesty, acceptance and kindness.

For cakes, dogs, cats, life-savers, unplanned pregnancies, homes, dresses and shoes, and of course, Mr Turner /Castis.

Crack on.

That is obviously ridiculous! But not many people would congratulate a Dad on simply spending time with his children today. certainly not on MN

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 05/09/2016 13:36

That's why I'm imagining her to be considerably older, though that may be unfair. She might have just attempted a rather clumsy and ill-conceived chat-up line!

Whilst there is definitely more expectations on a dad to actually parent. There is still a big imbalance in what society expects, particularly around single parents.

Generally a single unemployed dad who is main carer is seen as wonderful, brilliant, caring, works so hard looking after the children and people talk about what a sacrifice he made giving up his carer.

A woman in the same boat, is a dole dosser, only had kids for the benefits, lazy, crap mom, drain on society, etc.

Also its considered fine for a single dad to only see his DC every other weekend and make a small maintenance payment. Yet if the situation is the other way round people think the mother is terrible.

Bettercallsaul1 · 05/09/2016 13:47

How many children was he looking after? I have found that, if I am looking after a group of little children, (say, a two year-old, a three-year old and a younger one in reins), I get frequent smiling comments from passers-by about how I have my "hands full". These comments are just a pleasant reaction from strangers who see a nice family group.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 05/09/2016 13:52

Two (double buggy) and a dog.

Bettercallsaul1 · 05/09/2016 13:57

I think people often have that reaction to a double buggy! I have often had two little ones sitting very peacefully and contentedly in a double buggy and had lots of comments about how much work they must be, how I must have my hands full etc when actually they were no bother at all!

jetSTAR · 05/09/2016 13:57
