The Gusset Movement

LimeJellyHead · 03/09/2016 10:54

We the undersigned would like to stand up (and sit down) and be counted, with our knicker gussets in the correct anatomical position.

For countless years we have been wearing our gussets nearer to our back bottoms than our gusset-loving front lady parts. We have waited since 1989 for the invention of the world wide web to finally be able to air our gusset woes (and share pictures of cats).

The time has come for the ladies of the world to speak up. The conspiracy of the ill-positioned knicker gusset must end now. We, the Gusset Movement, request a re-positioning of those all-important panty parts. Please knicker makers of the world, move the gusset forward.

I seem to need a longer gußset in general with advanced age.

Autocorrect seems to agree with me.

RunningLulu · 04/09/2016 00:49

I have prominent mons & labia & don't have any problems. Wear boy short or midi styles.

PickAChew · 04/09/2016 00:51

That would be advanced middle age.

buckingfrolicks · 04/09/2016 00:59

Are you confident you haven't innocently invested in the new Gusette Brief? as opposed to the Granny Pant?

Tiredbutfuckingfine · 04/09/2016 01:17

I too would like an extension of an extra inch forward please!
I can hoik pants into correct position but as soon as I walk/sit the gussett pings backwards.
I have pants both too big, too small and just right. All have gusset position issues relating to gussett being too short.
I have a very flat arse, mind.

LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 10:01

PickAChew too funny. I think gußset should always be spelt that way, lol. BTW, I was wondering if it was anything to do with advancing age too. I'm sure my gusset used to be in approx the right place, once upon a time.

RunningLulu different thing my friend. I have no particularly prominent bits.

Tiredbutfuckingfine I'm with you girlfiend. I have a big 44 year old bottom so it can't be due to our big or flat bums, but definitely many of us do seem to be finding the gusset too short or too far back for us.

Clankboing · 04/09/2016 10:06

I agree! I would like an inch forward and extra thickness would help too...will not go into details.

madgingermunchkin · 04/09/2016 10:06

I get this. The front seam of my gussets all seem to sit about half a centimetre behind my clit. It makes no sense to me.

PGPsabitch · 04/09/2016 12:14

Wouldn't make a difference to me, I always have to wear a thicker pantyliner anyhow.

Not keen on the word gusset, reminds me of heaving for some reason.

Snotlynn · 04/09/2016 12:53

Finally!! I'm a size ten, with a big, round arse. The gusset of all knicker styles and brands needs to be inches further forward. Most of the knickers -which seem to have been designed for cardboard cutouts, not actual human women- are very low at the front due to having to be pulled up round my arse, rendering the gusset useless. Boyshort styles have a weird wee diamond shape of gusset that's only sewn on intermittently, all styles of knickers are the same.

LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 13:12

Yay, expertly worded Snotlynn. I knew there would be more of us Wink

I still haven't checked and I've not actually had any pants on since Friday? Thursday? I've been slobbing in my PJs for a few days. I am one lazy bitch when I'm on holiday! Although I've been showering as normal - just not getting dressed 😶

LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 14:03

Well you certainly know how to build up the anticipation Grin

Well my god. My eyes (and crotch area) have been well and truly opened! Who knew? After inspecting 27 pairs of pants in a variety of styles, only 6 pairs made the cut. In 1st place are 2 x M&S fancy French style knickers - the gusset actually finished where my garden begins! In 2nd place a 4 x Tesco thongs with the gusset coming up past my ahem you-know-what (can't bring myself to say clitoris......) - everything else in joint last place. Some of them barely reached my entrance! I'm joining the Gusset Movement and demanding changes! Hurrah!

LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 14:43

Hurrah, go Gusset Movement. I knew your in-depth research would be well worth the wait Grin

Please share... everyone else appears to be too shy Hmm

This is actual very interesting. Mine aren't right either but I just always assumed I had a larger than average biffa.

I wonder when this was last researched by manufacturers.

I am imagining all mnetters reading this with one hand down their pants having a quick feel to check. This has brought a smile to my face.

Velvetdarkness · 04/09/2016 14:56

Yes I'd like gusset further forward and wider. I always thought it was just me.

LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 15:03

I wonder when this was last researched too. As things are, my gusset is really more of a bottom warmer. I want my gusset over my lady parts please knicker makers.

No folks, we are not alone. Speak up and be counted. More front gusset please!!!!

Forgetmenotblue · 04/09/2016 15:04

I bought a five pack of tesco granny stylee pants yesterday. Gusset all good. Plenty of buttock coverage and plenty to go up and over my stretch marks. I'm in pants heaven for the first time in ages.

motherinferior · 04/09/2016 15:07

I was thinking precisely this of my Sainsbury's pants yesterday.

LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 15:08

OK, so the impression I am getting is that only granny pants have the gusset area fully covered. Now, I'm 44 years old and not into fashion knickers any more but I do like a normal plain black pair of pants or boy shorts from M&S. I want those to come with adequate gussetry. Why do only the grannies get more gusset?

OP posts:
LimeJellyHead · 04/09/2016 15:09

Maybe I need to sack M&S pants.

OP posts:
Tubbyinthehottub · 04/09/2016 15:12

Yes, all knickers have the gusset seam too far down.

Oldisthenewblack · 04/09/2016 15:15

A previous poster mentioned Sloggi underwear. I too only ever wear Sloggi pants - though was most miffed recently when I purchased a new pair of my regular pants only to find the gusset was THINNER!! And the bum coverage wasn't as good. I'm generally happy with a Sloggi gusset (careful how you say that) but was almost tempted to complain. Instead I simply made a note not to buy these particular pants again.

Also, the previous poster who mentioned positioning of a panty liner...I always position pads a lot further forward that the end of the gusset. If I don't, then leakage occurs...and no one wants a soggy gusset, do they? Unless that's your thing.

Oldisthenewblack · 04/09/2016 15:21

Yes, that's it, it's too far back. Most pants are pretty impractical when you think about it, aren't they? Not really designed for our shapes at all. Sometimes I've positioned a pad correctly, as I thought (i.e. to line up with the gusset) only to have it slide way too far back to be practicable once pants are pulled up.
