To buy my son girls' leggings?

Does anyone else but their sons girls' leggings? He starts nursery soon and jeggings look great with the nursery tshirt but are still super comfy but I can only actually see them for sale for girls? So would it be too obvious?

When my boys were little at the crawling stage they often had tights on and a long tshirt. I never thought about leggings, strangely enough. I hate young babies in jeans/trousers, must be so uncomfortable.

Put your child in what you want, forget the other parents.

I put Ds (11 months) in leggings and jeggings. I hate most of the bland "boys" clothes that are predominant on the high street, and can't really justify the cost of lovely Scandi brands, so will often put him in colourful leggings from the "girls" section. I just bought him some gorgeous bright coral/red jeggings from Morrisons that look so comfy and are so much nicer than the muted colours they had in the boys bit. If your Ds is comfortable then who gives a stuff what some random mums think - clothes are clothes, colours are colours, some people are just a bit narrow minded about things that aren't stereotypically the norm, and I wouldn't care about their opinions personally.

Mrs - they get grass/ mud on like most of his clothes but the dirt comes out fine washing.

I have a real feeling this is going to be a Dm article tomorrow - Art's badger leggings are going to be the main feature.

Please, please make sure you dress your child in such a way that I can tell what's in their pants Grin

My son wears tights, leggings, anything and everything really. Despite his nappy delving and hard tugging, his penis is, so far, still attached.

I love lindex!

I do not put almost four yr old DS in leggings (I'm not a massive fan) but I do put him in wooly tights and joggers at the same time Shock. However we live in Norway and its normal here and very cold and he looks cute and comfy.

Oh dear..

I would like to highlight, they aren't MY leggings! They do belong to a child. I fear I may be seen as slightly eccentric at 30 odd wearing them walking through town.

I have girls so no idea about dressing boys but when they were smaller all the boys wore tights because they were so much more practical than trying to keep socks on a crawling small one. Go for it.

Well yanbu but this comes up all the time and I never quite understand it.

Most shops sell joggers, they are soft, comfy, come in thick and thin for winter/Summer and come in all patterns and colours.

To me they seem much more comfy than leggings and tights.

The issue with joggers is two or three fold.

  1. They do not fit as snuggly and if you have a dainty boy they fall off. A lot.
  2. The colours tend to be grey / navy / black. Dull. Dull. Dull.
  3. They tend to be a very bulky and poor design. Yes they are comfy but they don't stretch in the same way and a lot are plain ugly.

If they fit and are comfy then go for it. If you chose colours not overtly 'girly' I can't imagine anyone even realising (if anything they'll probably be thinking oh, wonder where she gets those great little trousers for her boy!). I've just bought my dD age 6 a boys jacket, because at this stage all the girls stuff seems to be frilly/ furry/ flimsy. Do people not expect little girls to go outdoors for the entire winter? Found a nicely padded and shower proof jacket in school colours, and only actually realised it was a boys when I looked at the till receipt.

Ah ok, I love my 2 in joggers but I've noticed that a lot of baby boy outfits have started coming with leggings as standard so there's obviously demand for them.

Kids should be in comfy practical clothes and that's all that matters.

Even lindex are too big on the waist for ours! We live in Sweden so there's a branch of lindex everywhere...they still fall off :(

Leggings for boys are very normal here. In winter you need to layer up a LOT and they are outside in the snow most of the day, so leggings are practical.

Much less focus on gendered clothing here. Little ones are generally clad in nice bright colours and prints. There's a few at baby group that I'm still not sure if they're girls or boys (which is great!)

Don't send your dc to nursery in yellow bottoms. They will get really, really stained and be a nuisance to wash. I have a girl and a boy and sent both of them in navy bottoms which lasted years.

Who says they're girls?

I can't send him in navy as that's the colour of the polo he has to wear, I like the yellow! Or I'll just get black and some jeggings

I have h&m,tobias and the bear, POP, Fred and Noah leggings for DS. He is 2.5 and starting to more wear Boden joggers because he is sturdy in the thigh dept Grin I hate babies and toddlers in uncomfy clothes.

I love my scandi leggings. I tend to buy them preloved or in sales though.

It's sad that in the 21st century you still get some people saying it's "odd" for a boy to be wearing something that's very sensible and entirely appropriate... Leggings are great and I have noticed that sports leggings have become very popular with men for running, etc.

I like the scandi print leggings as mentioned above too. Often with little trees snd bears on or geometrical prints.

in continental Europe people wouldn't bat an eyelid. Kids seem dressed more appropriately for the season. Like those puddle suits or waders, if you put a 6 year old here in a ppude suit they'd tell you where to go.

My DS wears his leggings whilst pushing his pink pram with a teddy init. As happy as a pig in shit.
