Following on from the interesting & informative London thread.

For me the NW is Liverpool & surrounding areas. However I'm sure others will say the NW is much further north or south....

I'm really interested to see the replies...

I love Manchester, my favourite place to visit! I left my OP vague deliberately..

Grenada TV region. Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, Wigan and Manchester.

MargotLovedTom · 01/09/2016 00:31

Ummmm...I'd say Liverpool up to Scottish border with the Pennines as the border to the NE.

Birdsgottafly · 01/09/2016 00:33

Well obviously, Liverpool is the Centre of the NorthWest. Then is spreads out, down to 'Wag country' (Cheshire).

Then upto Lancashire, who we're sort of connected to and out to that other place (Manchester).

I know it includes Cumbria, but I think of them being very different. It's the stop just before Scotland on the train and even though it looks similar to Wales, it feels different.

MargotLovedTom · 01/09/2016 00:34

In fact, I'd also say Cheshire is NW.

X post

leccybill · 01/09/2016 00:37

Possibly just touching into North Wales, certainly Chester. How far West though?

littleprincesssara · 01/09/2016 00:40

Is it that bit marked "here be dragons" on the map?

/hides/

Sorry! I love the NW really.

MargotLovedTom · 01/09/2016 00:44

How far West? Until you hit Wales or the sea? Wink

leccybill · 01/09/2016 00:58

Prob Wales border then. And East? Trickier.

sandgrown · 01/09/2016 01:02

My work area is Wales and North West and covers all of Wales, Liverpool, parts of Manchester the north West coast and up through Cumbria.

MrHannahSnell · 01/09/2016 01:02

It's the area between the sea and the Pennines, south of the Scots border and north of the River Mersey.

Disabrie22 · 01/09/2016 01:10

North west is Cumbria

eightbluebirds · 01/09/2016 01:19

Um what now!? I live in the north, Liverpool etc is not north. North of London doesn't mean it's 'north'. Cardiff is NW here.

Birdsgottafly · 01/09/2016 01:29

Liverpool is in the North West of the U.K.

Wales, is split up, into North, West and South.

JadziaSnax · 01/09/2016 02:08

Lancashire, Manchester, Liverpool, Cumbria & Cheshire.

Careforadrink · 01/09/2016 03:07

Cumbria

Liverpool Manchester etc. are not the north. They may as well be the deep south to me.

bumsexatthebingo · 01/09/2016 03:20

From Chester up to Cumbria and out to Manchester.

Truckingalong · 01/09/2016 06:00

Wales is not in the north west. It's Wales. It's a different country.

DrLockhart · 01/09/2016 06:08

The boarder of Cheshire reaches down to Stoke. Stoke is never included in the north west but also isn't included in the Midlands

Calaisienne · 01/09/2016 06:17

DO is from Cumbria, he says The North starts at Preston.

Calaisienne · 01/09/2016 06:20

DP not DO, bloody autocorrect.

What Rosie said.

Geographically it may not be North West of where an individual lives, but it is officially the NW of England.

NW of the UK would be different of course.
