Where is the NorthWest?

Following on from the interesting & informative London thread.

For me the NW is Liverpool & surrounding areas. However I'm sure others will say the NW is much further north or south....

I'm really interested to see the replies...

I'm from Lytham. It's Cheshire, Lancashire, greater Manchester, merseyside, Cumbria. Granada tv region. And if we're being picky, Manchester and Liverpool used to be part of Lancashire anyway. In the olden days. So I'm not really sure about all of Cheshire..........
Goes to check historic map of Lancashire on wall.

heateallthebuns · 01/09/2016 21:20

Hmm seems like only half of merseyside and a bit of Cumbria were in Lancashire. Still sticking by the counties I just said.

Where is the NorthWest?
JamieVardysParty · 01/09/2016 21:25

Crewe is definitely North West - we get North West Tonight Grin

heateallthebuns · 01/09/2016 21:26

Heateallthebuns - WG!

talksensetome · 01/09/2016 22:38

North west is Liverpool, Cheshire, Manchester and anything upwards of that until Scotland. All though I would see the Lake District as separate.

heateallthebuns · 01/09/2016 22:39

3cats Wink do I know you? What school did you go to? I don't live there now btw.

TodaysAGoodDay · 01/09/2016 22:57

I am in north Cumbria. Cumbria is definitely in the north west. If you live as far north as this, it is hard sometimes to accept that Liverpool etc are in the n-w as well, as you have to travel 3 hours south by car to get there. But that's the way the areas in the country seem to be named, so I'm not fussed. To me it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, we're in the same country anyway.

AgentProvocateur · 01/09/2016 23:02

For me, from Glasgow, it's achiltibuie.

Mynestisfullofempty · 01/09/2016 23:10

eightbluebirds "Um what now!? I live in the north, Liverpool etc is not north. North of London doesn't mean it's 'north'. Cardiff is NW here."

Sorry, your post has confused me If you live in the north and don't consider Liverpool to be north, how on earth is Cardiff NW?

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 01/09/2016 23:14

JamieVardysParty been a bit of bother up edlestone road.....

HerRoyalFattyness · 01/09/2016 23:16

whywonthedgehogssharethehedge · 01/09/2016 23:17

heateallthehbhins I have to ask where the map came from? DH would LOVE it. He enjoys -boring the arse off people- talking about the historical boundaries.

We are currently in Cheshire but historically Lancashire...

whywonthedgehogssharethehedge · 01/09/2016 23:19
