Over my boyfriends house and his family are eating their dinner. His mum can't finish hers and offers the remainder of her corn on the cob around that she had already eaten some of. No one else wants it so his brothers girlfriends has it.

Am I the only one that thinks she's vile? Boyfriends mum had had her mouth on that then she takes it. Boak.

I would be grossed out because of all the slevers

user7755 · 30/08/2016 21:10

So you are jealous of her and he attention she gets from MIL.

You also over react to perfectly normal behaviour.

I can understand that the fact that she expressed concern about your behaviour to you OH. Is there any truth in what she said?

You sound quite high maintenance, could she be misinterpreting this?

RepentAtLeisure · 30/08/2016 21:11

Or you're jealous that you didn't the corn?

This was taking a Smithy and Nessa turn for a second Grin

IzzyIsBusy · 30/08/2016 21:16

Dp would not consider dumping me because somebody said i was controlling simply because I am not so he has no need to consider it. The fact that you BF DID consider it is quite telling dont you think OP.

PortiaCastis · 30/08/2016 21:18

Gavin and Smithy were in Lesbian Vampire Killers

RedSoloCup · 30/08/2016 21:22

I'm funny about sharing drinks with anyone except dh or my kids, just can't do it, couldn't finish someone else's half finished corn either (again prob could if it was dh or kids but wouldn't want more that much)....

GingerbreadGingerbread · 30/08/2016 21:24

I know what you mean but things like that don't really bother me.

AnyFucker · 30/08/2016 21:26

If she'd stuck it up her bum it would have been vile.

Quote of the day smile

AnyFucker · 30/08/2016 21:27

oops, sorry about the "smile" link

AnotherPrickInTheWall · 30/08/2016 21:27

I'd snaffle it. I kiss my friends; touch door handles , handle cash. I dont " see" germs, yet I rarely get sick. Suppose it's my slovenly ways that have ensured I have good immunity to all things bacterial.

WhatamessIgotinto · 30/08/2016 21:29

She barely acknowledges you?

Perhaps she just finds it easier not to engage with someone who hates her and thinks she's vile?

I'm not really a food sharer but think perhaps you may be more comfortable if you unclench a little...

Ohb0llocks · 30/08/2016 21:31

Oh I was hoping for sporn...

CurlyhairedAssassin · 30/08/2016 21:31

I'm properly anal about stuff like that. I think it stems from my mum going on about not sharing food when I was a kid "because of germs". Corn on the cob has had lips and saliva all over it and the thought of me then eating that makes me want to puke.

Also had some horrid experiences of sharing a bottle of water with garlic eaters and ew, just no! Never again!

DH's family share all sorts of stuff - 8 people in his house growing up and only one hand towel. I stayed overnight there once when we went to stay for the weekend and his mum never gave us separate towels so I had to use the family one to dry my face after a wash etc. It stank of tahini sauce because his brother had had a kebab on the way home the night before.

Makes me shudder to remember.

I now don't do any sharing of things like that.

wigwam33 · 30/08/2016 21:34

Is this serious?

bangingmyheadoffabrickwall · 30/08/2016 21:40

How old are you?

I get the impression that I am reading a thread a 14 year old started.

This is mumsnet isn't it????

Sunshineonacloudyday · 30/08/2016 21:40

Do you like the family can you see your self doing christmas and holidays there with the children if you have any. Maybe this is not the family for you they don't see close as being a problem.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/08/2016 21:40

Whilst it isn't something I would do, I would find it hard to get quite so worked up about it. Meh.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 30/08/2016 21:42

If I were your MIL/SIL OP, I would masticated chewed up banana into the dog's mouth and then bake the contents into a nice pie for you.

There's a thought - maybe I am your MIL/SIL. How would you ever know?? Smile

BodsAuntieFlo · 30/08/2016 21:47

Sounds as if there more to your OP than a corn on the cob. You sound like a jealous teenager 🙄

user7755 · 30/08/2016 21:48

Curlyhair

Shock.

BodsAuntieFlo · 30/08/2016 21:48

There's no point in getting a cob on about this OP.

MammaTJ · 30/08/2016 21:49

Well it put a big strain on our relationship and he even considered ending it.

If he considered ending it on the basis of his brother's girlfriend's opinion, he is not that into you!

StrangeLookingParasite · 30/08/2016 21:52

Couldn't care less. I can't imagine how you fragile flowers make yur way in the world, all this fussing about ew, dirty, disgusting.
Dirt is good for you. Slight grottiness keeps your immune system functioning correctly, and reduces the odds of developing allergies (an immune system that's lost the plot a bit. This may be slightly paraphrased.).

You know how corn passes through the body untouched? Vile would be eating that.

How old are you OP?
