to want to spend £2k on a bed for guest room?

Just that really. I wanted to take advantage of the 30% M&S home event and get a new bed for the guest room we recently decorated. Cost includes Super King divan base, headboard and mattress.

Asked DH his opinion and he says that it's much too expensive for a guest bed and what's wrong with the (crappy Ikea) bed we already have (that creaks horribly when anyone moves on it!). We were planning on getting nice new wardrobes so I think the bed we have will look even more crap with those!

For info, DH has a very good job so we can easily afford it (I'm a SAHM with 2 Primary age kids). I think he's a bit out of touch with how much nice beds cost, or AIBU?

when we bought a new bed for the guest room we bought exactly the same bed as in our room (4 years old) and put the newer one in our room and the older in the guest room. We did this as I was expecting and had severe spd so needed a decent bed to sleep in, plus I wanted my DM to be comfortable when she visited.

However it only cost £500 (sealy posturepedic divan).

I'm not sure I'd go for an upholstered headboard for a guest bed, you can guarantee some plonker will spill their morning coffee over it or smear their greasy head on it or something. I would spend the whole time fretting that they were ruining my lovely expensive bedstead.

A better idea IMO is to buy the bed FOR YOURSELF and then put your existing bed in the guest room. Grin

Is this just a post to say how much money you have? If you can afford to buy it, just buy it.

I spent £76,000 (cash) on a new car two weeks ago and didn't feel the need to let MN know all about it in an AIBU post...

And yet you had to shoehorn into this thread the fact you'd made a £76,000 cash purchase on a car! Must have been simply killing you to keep that in for a whole fortnight.

Oh the irony!

Again hasn't come back to tell us that she isn't, in fact, a gypsy. Am I allowed to say that?

VanillaSugar · 31/08/2016 15:42

gypsy

VanillaSugar · 31/08/2016 15:43

If she can show us her tax returns then I'll happily apologise.

good website
And they do deals when you scroll down with mattress as well.
I want this bed so much but need to do my whole bedroom before that happens.

£76,000' CASH on a car
does HMRC know about these notes paid to Arthur Daley,in the Winchester?

VanillaSugar · 31/08/2016 16:38

Again the car lady knows NOTHING. I once spent FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND POUNDS on something. Can anyone guess what it was? A clue: it wasn't a bed.

My next birthday present?

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 31/08/2016 16:51

vanilla. Gold-plated Rampant Rabbit?

PortiaCastis · 31/08/2016 16:52

Gosh Vanilla is that how much you pool installation cost?

VanillaSugar · 31/08/2016 17:23

It was a diamond encrusted solid gold Rolls Royce. But that only cost two hundred grand. The rest was spent on parking tickets outside Harrods every time I popped in for a Brazillian.

PortiaCastis · 31/08/2016 17:25

Jeepers was the wax made with micro pearls?

VanillaSugar · 31/08/2016 17:36

I've had a lot of Brazillians. Usually called Paolo.

PortiaCastis · 31/08/2016 17:48

Yeah but you were with Julio in Antonio Banderos new bed from Ikeao's
