Just because I can BF anywhere doesn't mean I will.

I've been following the 'chucked out of west end show for BF' thread with interest.
It's legal to BF pretty much everywhere but I wondered where others avoid feeding or even taking their baby?

I wouldn't take my baby to
The theatre (adult only show) 😉
Loud music Concert
Nandos near me (and similar stuffy, smelly, overcrowded, dirty restaurants.)
Public toilets
Exam hall
Staff meeting/presentation

I wouldn't BF
in moving car
at side of swimming pool
at the side of a motorway
In a salon whilst having my hair/ nails done.

Basically, anywhere I myself wouldn't usually eat food, or dirty, noisy, smelly or overcrowded places. Adult or particularly formal places.

IABU to think that despite the law, just because you can doesn't automatically mean you should?

That's not for us to judge. Unless you are being a pearl clutcher or a hoiky pants.

elodie2000 · 29/08/2016 09:08

Lemonwords OP have you breastfed? or intending to?

No, I bottle fed my DC from the start, I said this early up thread.
I also said that this was really about all types of feeding (for example, I wouldn't have BF, bottle fed or given my DC any type of solid food whilst in the toilet area of a shop ).
It was inspired by the woman who BF her crying baby in the middle of of a West End show and allegedly was thrown out because of the BF alone.
The law states that women are allowed to BF practically anywhere so I wanted to know where others wouldn't.

Please read the thread user1471

I must admit I wouldn't take a baby to a show (unless it was advertised as child friendly) but apart from that I've breastfed in most places imaginable! It has often been spontaneous because the child was hungry at the time so I've never over thought it.
I wouldn't go out of my way to bf in a place but neither would I let my environment stop me.

i don't get this thread. Why do you even care OP? What point are you trying to press? You don't breastfeed, so what is your interest?

I have breastfed in all these places - with the exception of the hard shoulder of a motorway- which is used in an emergency. However if my car broke down and the car was safely evacuated ( as police suggest should be done) and my family sitting safely up a grassy embankment for instance - then I could clearly see that I may breastfeed there while waiting for vehicle recovery.

elodie- I have read the whole thread. That' s why I comment. What's your beef?

PinkyOfPie · 29/08/2016 09:20

I agree with user147 I don't really see the point of this post other than just having a dig about BF, as the OP doesn't even BF, and I'm not really buying the "I meant all types of feeding" as I do think a lot of people would bottle feed in a moving car

PinkyOfPie · 29/08/2016 09:21

and YY to POs, rule of thumb is "if a mother can be there, she can BF there". So I can BF at a table in a cafe but I couldn't sit myself behind the counter to do it.

elodie2000 · 29/08/2016 09:23

I agree! You don't get it! 😄
I'm interested in lots of things I don't do user. Please read the whole thread though, it might make sense then.

I have read the whole thread. I still think your interest is loaded.

elodie2000 · 29/08/2016 09:25

Pinky No, I wouldn't feed a baby anything in a moving car.

user Your opinion. I don't believe you have read the whole thread otherwise you'd get it.

Yes I am well endowed. My breasts are soft and large. feeding in the back seat was easy, no more than slight twist to the side, as I would do looking at scenery. I remained strapped in, my baby was safely strapped in, and knew to simply turn his head.
At no time was safety compromised.

user1471552005 · 29/08/2016 09:43

elodie I still think you have some agenda.

You formula fed "from day one". Yet you have an interest in breastfeeding?

Hmm Unless you have a medical condition which renders you unable to breastfeed then I think that's quite odd.
UmbongoUnchained · 29/08/2016 09:45

Why are people who formula fed not allowed to have an interest in breast feeding?

And why is it odd to choose how you feed your own baby?

Bearfrills · 29/08/2016 09:48

So if the OP was medically unable to breastfeed then she'd be allowed to have an interest but as she formula fed, she isn't allowed? Hmm

I didn't realise one had to show their breastfeeding credentials before engaging in breastfeeding discussions.

user1471552005 · 29/08/2016 09:50

It's not odd to choose how to feed your baby, you are spinning on the point.

I have never used formula milk.
If I were to start a thread entitled "Just because I can formula feed anywhere doesn't mean I will." would seem very odd.

Bearfrills · 29/08/2016 09:52

But the OP clarified that she meant formula feeding and breastfeeding and her question applied to both.

UmbongoUnchained · 29/08/2016 09:53

She's just asking the simple question "Is there anywhere that you wouldn't feed your baby."

Nothing to get worked up about.

user1471552005 · 29/08/2016 09:54

The OP must have chosen to formula feed "from day one" for a reason.

Bearfrills · 29/08/2016 09:54

I bottle fed both SC so my thread should have been about BF and bottle feeding

See.

Bearfrills · 29/08/2016 09:55

The OP must have chosen to formula feed "from day one" for a reason.

Because she wanted to? Everyone has the choice, they don't need to justify it to anyone.

somefarawaydream · 29/08/2016 09:56

Oh why has the rhyming stopped? Sad

Sulks in corner as wanted to join in

MrsRyanGosling15 · 29/08/2016 09:56

User I think you will find at all times, your baby's safety was compromised. How is basic science and common sense so far out of some people's grasp?
