There's a car parked on my drive

Arrived home from work to find a car parked on my drive. Thought it might be one of dh's friends but no.

Our drive can fit two cars but the bastard has decided to park at the front of the drive so no chance of parking on the drive and blocking them in like I would like to.

It's making me irrationally angry and I can't stop checking to see if it's gone. Dh doesn't seem to share my annoyance.

Why would anyone decide it's ok to park on someone's drive?!

Is it criminal damage if the car is parked on your drive with no permission in the UK? It's trespass under Irish law
No it is not criminal damage to leave a car on someone else's driveway as it does not damage anything and trespass is not (except in very specific circumstances) a crime in English law.

Cavogirl · 25/08/2016 21:54

My son put a suncreamy hand on my car last year. Its been washed numerous times. There is still a hand print

Oh my word that YouTube video is epic. Although I can't believe the police just let him drive off with all those post-it notes on his car, accident waiting to happen.

Sounds like a good time to think about getting something like this:- Commercial Concertina Window Security Grilles Folding Shutters Bars Door Grill to use as a gate.

No it's not my ebay listing btw

I had a boyfriend once who showed me how to let down someone's tyres very slowly by undoing the little black cap that's over the bit you put the air pump in. Fill it with tiny stones and put the cap back on. They won't know about it for a while so won't be able to pin it on you. Just sayin'

Mycraneisfixed · 25/08/2016 22:33

I love a 'parking on my drive' thread too. Especially when I've only just picked it up and we know who did it.
I'd have been sooo cross initially and even crosser about her cavalier attitude to your annoyance. Now you can spend a whole week plotting what to do if it happens againWink

That parked in a disabled space is fake (surely).

CotswoldStrife · 25/08/2016 22:49

As Judy said, I would contact the WW leader and get them to say something. Or complain to the hall/school where it is held.

What would make you think it was OK to park on someone's drive - I mean, really? What is it with these people (let's hope she's on MN!).

BoredOnMatLeave · 25/08/2016 23:05

Someone once parked in my, clearly marked, flat parking space. I went crazy angry and rang non emergency police number.

They called the owner and told them to move the car or it will be towed. Owner moved it within an hour.

Some 17 year old girl who apparently just passed her test and didn't realise you can't park in other peoples spaces Hmm.

DesolateWaist · 25/08/2016 23:16

Is it wrong that I long to come home one day to a random car parked in my drive just so I can have my own parking thread.

Cavogirl · 25/08/2016 23:20

Desolate that's hilarious !!

wowfudge · 25/08/2016 23:24

If she parks there again next week, I'd go for humiliating her in front of the WW's class. A very loud, 'I asked you last week why you thought it was acceptable to park on my drive and not to do it again.....' (end as you see fit) in front of them all should do the trick.

Queenbean · 25/08/2016 23:24

Maybe one day I'll park my own car on someone else's drive to see if it sparks a thread

Then later I'll come back apologising but saying I was in labour or something. See how that thread progresses.

JudyCoolibar · 25/08/2016 23:24

Desolate, tell us where you live and I'm sure we'l be happy to help out next time we need parking spaces in that area Grin

Cavogirl · 25/08/2016 23:25

Even better queen , park on my drive, I start the thread and we can battle !!
